Kyle Connor LW | WPG
Jets' Kyle Connor: Posts two points in opener
Connor scored a power-play goal on nine shots and added an assist in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins. He also added two blocked shots and a hit.
Connor was Winnipeg's most dangerous offensive player, leading the team with nine shots and getting involved directly in two of the team's three goals. He tied the game 2-2 at the 1:50 mark of the second period before adding an assist on Mario Ferraro's go-ahead goal with eight seconds remaining in the frame. Connor has picked things up right where he left them last season, as he posted 92 points (39 goals, 53 assists) in 2025-26, making it the second straight season he surpassed the 90-point plateau.

Elias Lindholm C | BOS
Bruins' Elias Lindholm: Scores late equalizer Friday
Lindholm scored a goal on five shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Jets.
Lindholm came through with Boston's season-opening winning streak in jeopardy, redirecting David Pastrnak's shot past Stuart Skinner with 1:38 remaining in regulation. The Bruins had pulled Jeremy Swayman for an extra attacker and called timeout immediately before the tying tally. Lindholm generated five shots during the contest, matching Peterka for the team lead, before Boston completed the comeback in overtime. Lindholm has one goal and one assist in his first two outings of the campaign.

Jeremy Swayman G | BOS
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Makes 30 saves in OT win
Swayman stopped 30 of 33 shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Jets.
Swayman followed Tuesday's 24-save shutout of the Rangers with another solid performance, though the potential shutout bid ended quickly after he was beaten once in the first period and twice in the second. However, the seven-year veteran shut the door the rest of the way and allowed the Bruins to mount the comeback. Swayman has had a strong start to the season, stopping 54 of 57 shots faced through two starts and winning both outings.

John-Jason Peterka RW | BOS
Bruins' JJ Peterka: Scores game-winner Friday
Peterka scored a power-play goal on five shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Jets.
Peterka delivered the winner for the second straight game to begin his Bruins career. David Pastrnak sprung him on a breakaway in overtime, and Peterka beat Stuart Skinner to complete Boston's comeback. The 24-year-old also scored in Tuesday's 3-0 season-opening win over the Rangers, giving him two goals on six shots through his first two games with Boston.

Alexei Toropchenko RW | STL
Blues' Alexei Toropchenko: Dealing with upper-body injury
Toropchenko is dealing with an upper-body injury sustained Friday versus the Stars that is more than a day-to-day issue.
Toropchenko won't play Saturday versus the Avalanche, based on that update. The 27-year-old's status beyond that will likely come into focus once the Blues' medical staff has completed additional evaluations for his injuries. Look for Dillon Dube or Zach Dean to replace Toropchenko on the Blues' fourth line for Saturday's game.

Beckett Hamilton C | COL
Avalanche's Beckett Hamilton: Collects three points
Hamilton scored a goal on four shots and added two assists in WHL Red Deer's 4-2 win over Saskatoon on Friday.
Hamilton is thriving early in the WHL campaign, earning five goals and three assists over four games. He's also won more than half of his faceoff attempts in each game. Hamilton is a third-round pick of the Avalanche, and he'll have a chance to be one of the WHL's most prolific producers this year.

Alexei Toropchenko RW | STL
Blues' Alexei Toropchenko: Forced out of Friday's game
Toropchenko sustained an undisclosed injury and will not return to Friday's game versus the Stars.
Toropchenko was injured on a hit by Lian Bichsel, and the Blues winger needed help to get off the ice. The Blues didn't reveal the nature of Toropchenko's injury. If he can't play Saturday versus the Avalanche, Dillon Dube or Zach Dean would take his place in the lineup.

Ethan Wyttenbach LW | CGY
Flames' Ethan Wyttenbach: Starts season on high note
Wyttenbach scored twice and added an assist in Quinnipiac University's 10-2 win over the University of New Hampshire on Friday.
Wyttenbach was the top freshman in 2025-26, and his sophomore campaign is off to a strong start. The 19-year-old had 59 points in 40 games for Quinnipiac last year. If he thrives again this season, he could opt to sign an entry-level deal and turn pro for 2027-28.

Mads Sogaard G | TB
Lightning's Mads Sogaard: Opens AHL season with shutout
Sogaard notched a 27-save shutout in AHL Syracuse's 2-0 win over Laval on Friday.
Sogaard's first game for Syracuse was a huge success. The goalie will be the organizational No. 3 for the Lightning, but he probably won't see much NHL time unless Andrei Vasilevksiy or Dennis Hildeby gets hurt. Last year, Sogaard went 7-13-4 with a 3.69 GAA and an .874 save percentage for AHL Belleville in the regular season.

Sheldon Dries C | DET
Red Wings' Sheldon Dries: Tallies twice for Griffins
Dries scored two goals in AHL Grand Rapids' 5-2 win over Cleveland on Friday.
Dries has logged at least 40 points in four of the last five AHL regular seasons. The forward is off to another good start this year, though it's expected the 32-year-old will serve as a veteran leader with the Griffins rather than a call-up option for the Red Wings. He made five appearances for Detroit in 2025-26.
