  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Nabs assist on home ice

Lapierre recorded an even-strength assist in Friday's 3-1 win over Carolina.

Lapierre generated the primary assist on Jakub Vrana's second-period marker to put Washington up 2-0. The helper snapped a six-game point slump for Lapierre, but he's yet to find the back of the net this season. The 22-year-old's 6:04 of ice time was a team-low, so he'll need to work on gaining the trust of head coach Spencer Carberry in order to carve out a larger role. Lapierre has logged seven helpers, four PIM, 17 shots, 12 blocks, nine hits and a minus-4 rating through 25 appearances.

  • Marco Rossi C | MIN

Wild's Marco Rossi: Sends helper in loss

Rossi produced an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah.

Rossi has five goals and three assists over nine outings in December. He helped out on a Mats Zuccarello goal in Friday's contest. Rossi has done best when he centers the first line this year, and that's where he's been for the majority of this month. The 23-year-old is up to 27 points, 57 shots on net, 22 hits and a plus-12 rating through 33 appearances. He is well on his way to surpassing the 40-point effort he put together in 2023-24, which was his first full NHL campaign.

  • Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Slings helper in loss

Kaprizov notched an assist and five shots on goal in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah.

Kaprizov has four goals and two assists during his current four-game point streak. The 27-year-old winger set up the opening tally by Mats Zuccarello, but that was all the Wild could muster against Karel Vejmelka in this contest. Kaprizov is up to 22 goals, 27 helpers, 112 shots on net and a plus-23 rating over 32 appearances this season. After missing the 100-point mark in the last two years following his breakout in 2021-22, Kaprizov is poised to return to that level in 2024-25.

  • Capitals' Andrew Mangiapane: Notches apple in victory

Mangiapane collected an assist in Friday's 3-1 win over Carolina.

Mangiapane registered the primary helper on Aliaksei Protas' 12th goal of the season to open the scoring late in the first period. After failing to find the scoresheet in Washington's first five games of December, Mangiapane has registered a point in back-to-back contests. The left-shot winger has reached the 40-point mark in three consecutive campaigns, but he's on pace to fall well short of that number in 2024-25. The 28-year-old has contributed seven goals, five helpers and a plus-6 rating through 31 appearances.

  • Wild's Mats Zuccarello: Scores lone goal in loss

Zuccarello scored a goal on six shots and added two hits in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah.

The goal was Zuccarello's first in four games since he returned from a lower-body injury. He's added three assists in that span while immediately reclaiming a top-line role alongside Kirill Kaprizov and Marco Rossi, who assisted on his tally. Zuccarello is up to seven goals, 18 points, 37 shots on net and a plus-7 rating through 20 appearances this season. Even at 37 years old, his offense remains strong, so he can help fantasy managers in need of offense, particularly assists and power-play production.

  • Wild's Marc-Andre Fleury: Takes narrow loss

Fleury stopped 16 of 18 shots in Friday's 2-1 loss to Utah.

Fleury has lost three of his last five appearances, though he's given up two or fewer goals in four of those games. The 40-year-old netminder was beaten twice by Dylan Guenther, and that was the difference in Friday's narrow loss. Fleury is down to 6-3-1 with a 2.81 GAA and an .898 save percentage over 11 outings (10 starts) this season. Jesper Wallstedt will tend the twine on the road versus the Jets on Saturday, but Fleury could be back between the pipes at home against the Blackhawks on Monday.

  • Jack McBain C | UTA

Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Posts helper in win

McBain notched an assist and three hits in Friday's 2-1 win over the Wild.

McBain snapped a four-game point drought when he set up Dylan Guenther's first-period tally. This point was likely a little sweeter for McBain, who heard some boos from the Minnesota crowd Friday -- he was a third-round pick of the Wild in 2018, but opted to not sign with the team after exhausting his college eligibility. He's carved out a decent role for himself in Utah this year, racking up 14 points, 28 shots on net, 43 PIM, 101 hits, 19 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating over 32 appearances. That level of physical play could earn him some interest in deeper fantasy formats as long as he remains in a second-line role.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Snaps five-game goal drought Friday

McMichael potted a goal on four shots and added one block, two takeaways and a plus-1 rating in 19:14 of ice time Friday in a 3-1 win over Carolina.

McMichael scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season late in the middle frame to give Washington a 3-0 lead. The 23-year-old has cooled after racking up 24 points over the first two months of the campaign, as he's provided just two goals and two helpers through eight games in December. Even though his production has decreased, the Ontario native ranks second on the Capitals in scoring with 16 goals and 28 points through 32 appearances.

  • Logan Cooley C | UTA

Hockey Club's Logan Cooley: Records helper in Friday's win

Cooley notched an assist and blocked two shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Wild.

Cooley helped out on the first of Dylan Guenther's two goals, which tied the game at 1-1 in the first period. The helper gave Cooley seven assists over his last four outings. The second-line center has gotten on the scoresheet in 11 of the last 13 contests to provide steady offense. He's up to seven goals, 22 assists, 63 shots on net, 28 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-14 rating through 32 appearances. It doesn't look like Cooley will be a victim of the sophomore slump -- he's 15 points shy of matching his production from his rookie year, and he's elevated his play in nearly every area.

  • Hockey Club's Mikhail Sergachev: Hands out power-play helper

Sergachev logged a power-play assist in Friday's 2-1 win over the Wild.

Sergachev has two goals and six assists over eight outings in December, and four of those helpers have come with the man advantage. Sergachev played 29:15 in this contest, his second-highest total in a game this year. The defenseman remains one of Utah's most important and productive players. He's at eight goals, 16 helpers, nine power-play points, 54 shots on net, 57 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating through 32 appearances.
