Sam Malinski D | COL
Avalanche's Sam Malinski: Lands four-year extension
Malinski signed a four-year, $19 million contract extension with Colorado on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Malinski has three goals, 24 points, 98 shots on net and 56 blocked shots across 50 appearances this season. He has played up and down the lineup in 2025-26, but he has been skating on the top pairing with Cale Makar due to the absence of Devon Toews (upper body).

Jack St. Ivany D | PIT
Penguins' Jack St. Ivany: Set for extended absence
St. Ivany underwent successful surgery on his left hand, and his expected recovery time is up to eight weeks, the Penguins announced Tuesday.
St. Ivany sustained his hand injury Sunday in Vancouver. Considering the amount of time he will miss, the 26-year-old will likely be placed on injured reserve at some point in the near future. Connor Clifton and Ilya Solovyov will compete for playing time on the third pairing while St. Ivany is sidelined.

Joel Edmundson D | LA
Kings' Joel Edmundson: Game-time decision
Edmundson (upper body) will be a game-time decision against Detroit on Tuesday, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site.
Edmundson participated in Tuesday's optional morning skate after leaving Monday's practice early. He sustained the injury in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over St. Louis. He has produced two goals, 14 assists, 67 shots on net, 53 blocked shots and 59 hits across 50 appearances this season. If Edmundson can't play, Jacob Moverare will probably suit up against the Red Wings on Tuesday.

Alex Turcotte C | LA
Kings' Alex Turcotte: Not an option Tuesday
Turcotte (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game in Detroit, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Turcotte will miss just his second game of the season Tuesday, though this time it's a result of an injury, as the 24-year-old was a healthy scratch on one occasion in late November. Turcotte is considered day-to-day due to his upper-body issue, and his next opportunity to suit up will be when the Kings continue their road trip Thursday in Buffalo.

Anthony Duclair LW | NYI
Islanders' Anthony Duclair: Two helpers in Monday's win
Duclair notched two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 4-0 win over the Flyers.
Both assists came in the second period, as Duclair helped provide some insurance for the Islanders by setting up tallies by Mathew Barzal and Tony DeAngelo. Duclair has put together an impressive January despite being a healthy scratch for the first two games of the month, collecting eight goals and 12 points in 10 contests, including three goals and an assist with the man advantage.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau C | NYI
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Tickles twine twice in win
Pageau scored two goals, one the shorthanded game-winner, in Monday's 4-0 victory over the Flyers.
The veteran center opened the scoring late in the first period, as an aggressive forecheck by Casey Cizikas and a defensive zone breakdown by Philadelphia left Pageau wide open in front of Samuel Ersson. It was Pageau's third shortie and third GWG of the season as well as his first multi-goal performance, and through 44 games, he's produced 10 goals and 21 points with 59 hits, 44 shots on net, 40 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating.

Ilya Sorokin G | NYI
Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Blanks Philly for sixth shutout
Sorokin made 21 saves in Monday's 4-0 win over the Flyers.
The shutout was his NHL-leading sixth of the season, and three of them have come in January. Since returning from a lower-body injury at the beginning of the month, Sorokin has gone 5-2-0 in seven starts with a dazzling 2.02 GAA and .935 save percentage.

Matthew Robertson D | NYR
Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Pots OT winner Monday
Robertson scored his first career game-winning goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime victory over the Bruins.
The rookie defenseman collected the puck in his own end, skated the length of the ice and slipped the puck through Joonas Korpisalo's five-hole with just over a minute left in OT. Robertson, a second-round pick in the 2019 Draft, is getting his first full look at the NHL, and his responsibilities should only increase as the Rangers begin to sell off veterans, with Carson Soucy heading to the Islanders on Monday. Through 43 games this season, Robertson has four goals and 10 points with 68 hits, 52 blocked shots, 45 shots on net, 28 PIM and a minus-2 rating.

Andreas Englund D | NSH
Predators' Andreas Englund: Elevated from minors
Englund was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Monday.
Nicolas Hague is week-to-week due to a lower-body injury, which has resulted in Englund being brought up from the minors. Englund has yet to make an appearance in the NHL in 2025-26, so he might not get into a game unless another Nashville blueliner gets hurt. The 30-year-old has two goals, six points, 44 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 34 appearances with the Admirals this season.

Jonathan Quick G | NYR
Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Finally back in win column Monday
Quick stopped 21 shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Bruins. He also added an assist on Matthew Robertson's game-winner.
Boston took a 3-2 lead midway through the second period, but Quick shut the door the rest of the way and actually got some support from the Rangers' offense. It was the netminder's first win since Nov. 7, snapping a brutal 0-10-2 stretch, and the victory was also the 408th of his career -- breaking a tie with Hall of Famer Glenn Hall and moving Quick into sole possession of 12th place on the NHL's all-time list. The 40-year-old might have trouble climbing any higher, however, as next up in 11th place is Tony Esposito with 423 wins.
