Verhaeghe scored two goals, one the game-winner, in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Detroit.

Both goals came in the final 90 seconds of the third period, as Verhaeghe flipped the script on what looked like it would be a 3-2 loss for Florida. The 30-year-old had managed only one goal and three points in 11 games before Tuesday's contest. On the season, Verhaeghe has 19 goals and 46 points in 63 appearances.

  • Panthers' Daniil Tarasov: Escapes with win Tuesday

The 26-year-old netminder appeared to be heading for his 11th loss of the season, but instead he fell into his career-high ninth win when Carter Verhaeghe scored twice in the final 90 seconds of the third period. It was Tarasov's first victory since Jan. 25. He has given up at least three goals in four of his last five outings, a stretch in which he has stumbled to a 3.83 GAA and .879 save percentage.

Ritchie came through when the Isles needed him the most in the third period, tallying a goal (which was really an own goal awarded to him) and an assist over a 60-second span. This is also the start of a new point streak for Ritchie, who hadn't cracked the scoresheet in back-to-back games since a four-game point streak between Jan. 15 and Jan. 21.

He scored his 12th goal of the season midway through the second period before helping to set up a Marco Kasper tally early in the third. However, he won't see the kind of power-play time in Detroit that he did in St. Louis while working behind Moritz Seider.
