  • Olli Maatta D | CGY

Flames' Olli Maatta: Dishes pair of helpers

Maatta notched two assists and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks.

Maatta had a hand in both of the Flames' goals. He's been good with eight points over 11 outings for his new team, but this was his first multi-point effort in a Calgary sweater. The defenseman is up to one goal, eight assists, 25 shots on net, 40 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 33 contests between the Flames and the Mammoth this season. Maatta is playing heavy minutes in Calgary's top four to help shelter the team's younger blueliners.

  • Matvei Gridin RW | CGY

Flames' Matvei Gridin: Tallies in overtime loss

Gridin scored a goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks.

Gridin has chipped in decent offense lately with two goals and five assists over his last 10 outings. He's on a four-game point streak (one goal, three helpers). The 20-year-old is still playing in the bottom six at even strength, but the Flames will allow him to grow into any increases in ice time. He's up to five goals, 14 points, 55 shots on net, 19 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 28 appearances as a rookie this year.

  • Flames' Blake Coleman: Nets opening goal

Coleman scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks.

Coleman opened the scoring at 1:06 of the second period. He had gone five games without a goal, picking up five assists in that span. The 34-year-old forward continues to see top-six minutes down the stretch, which has allowed him to rack up nine points over 14 outings in March. He's at 17 goals, 30 points, 151 shots on net, 139 hits, 39 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a plus-10 rating over 60 appearances.

  • Devin Cooley G | CGY

Flames' Devin Cooley: Done in by buzzer-beater

Cooley allowed three goals on 33 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks.

Cooley's nemesis in this game was Mikael Granlund, who erased both of the Flames' leads and scored at 4:59 of overtime. This was still a decent outing for Cooley, but he wasn't able to extend his winning run to three games. The 28-year-old netminder slipped to 9-9-5 with a 2.51 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 27 appearances. He's alternating starts with Dustin Wolf currently, and if that trend continues, it'll be Wolf at home versus the Canucks on Saturday before Cooley would be tasked with a tough road matchup in Colorado on Monday.

  • John Carlson D | ANA

Ducks' John Carlson: Supplies two power-play helpers

Carlson logged two power-play assists and three shots on goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flames.

Carlson has six helpers over the last four contests, with three of those assists coming on the power play. He had a hand in Mikael Granlund's last two goals of his hat trick. Carlson is fitting right in for the Ducks, giving them a reliable veteran presence on the blue line. He's now at 52 points (12 on the power play), 128 shots on net, 90 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a plus-14 rating over 61 appearances between the Ducks and the Capitals.

  • Ducks' Mikael Granlund: Completes hat trick in overtime

Granlund scored three goals, including two on the power play, in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flames.

Granlund twice answered goals by the Flames, and he provided some late heroics by completing his hat trick at 4:59 of overtime. The 34-year-old has gone from cold to hot in a hurry with seven goals over his last four games. He's up to 19 goals, 34 points, 99 shots on net, 31 blocked shots, 26 hits and a minus-9 rating over 48 appearances this season.

  • Ville Husso G | ANA

Ducks' Ville Husso: Comes away with overtime win

Husso stopped 23 of 25 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flames.

Husso didn't have a lead to protect at any point in regulation. Mikael Granlund twice answered Flames goals, and he scored at 4:59 of overtime to secure the win. Husso is up to 9-7-1 with a 3.06 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 17 appearances this season. If he can secure one more victory this season, he'll get to double digits for the first time since 2022-23 with the Red Wings. Lukas Dostal is likely to get the nod Saturday in Edmonton.

  • Tim Stutzle LW | OTT

Senators' Tim Stutzle: Youngest to major team milestone

Stutzle delivered two assists in a 4-3 shootout loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday.

With the first helper, Stutzle became the youngest player and seventh in Senators history to reach 400 points. He sits third on the team list in fewest games to hit the mark. Jason Spezza (388) and Alexei Yashin (417) sit ahead of Stutzle (439). He's also the fourth German player in league history to hit 400 points. Stutzle joins Leon Draisaitl (1,053), Marco Sturm (487) and Jochen Hecht (463).

  • Senators' Drake Batherson: New career mark in points

Batherson scored twice in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Penguins on Thursday.

Batherson's second goal tied the game 3-3 in the third period. The goals were his first in six games (two assists). Batherson now has 29 goals which is a new career mark. He has 63 points and 154 shots in 69 games, and if he can maintain this pace, he'll deliver the best point total of his NHL career. Batherson's previous best was 68 points, which he set last season.

  • Penguins' Stuart Skinner: Just second win in last nine starts

Skinner made 26 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over the Senators on Thursday.

It was Skinner's second win in a nine-game span dating back to Feb. 3. He is 2-2-5 in that period. In contrast, his platoon mate Arturs Silovs is 6-3-0 in nine starts in the same period. The Pens are committed to this platoon, but the Skinner side is clearly the weaker half. The team will want to hold onto second in the Metropolitan, especially if Sidney Crosby, who suffered a lower-body injury in the game, is out of commission for long.
