  • Golden Knights' Pavel Dorofeyev: Top-15 NHL goal scorer

Dorofeyev scored a goal Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to Buffalo.

He scored five-hole on a breakaway. It was his 29th of the season. Dorofeyev is tied with Macklin Celebrini for 15th in snipes in the NHL. Dorofeyev has four points, including three goals, in four games since the Olympic break. The 25-year-old is pure finish -- he has just 48 points (19 assists) in 61 games. Fifteen of his goals and half of his points overall (24) have come with the man advantage.

  • Jason Zucker LW | BUF

Sabres' Jason Zucker: First goal since break

Zucker scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Vegas.

It was his first point since the Olympic break. Zucker has 16 goals, 14 assists and 86 shots in 42 games this season, and he's on pace for a 45-point season. Zucker is firing at a somewhat unsustainable 18.6 percent; his career average is 12.7.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Beast mode activated

Thompson scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Vegas on Tuesday.

It stood as the winner. Thompson has been a beast since early December. He's currently on an eight-game, nine-point streak that includes five goals and 33 shots. Thompson has also put up points in 28 of his last 33 games (21 goals, 21 assists; 115 shots) since Dec. 8. That's the kind of fantasy dominance that helps win championships.

  • Owen Power D | BUF

Sabres' Owen Power: Two points in last two games

Power scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Vegas on Tuesday.

After his team won a faceoff early in the second, Power took the puck and walked to the middle of the blue line before firing a fluttering wrist shot that fooled Akira Schmid over his glove. Power has a goal and an assist in his last two games, and he has fired six shots in that span. Yes, he's taken a step backward this season, and his current 26-point pace is well off his 40-point effort last year. It's important to note that Power rarely sees power-play time, which has eaten away at his offensive impact. That could change at any time, and the young man has talent. He could surprise if he can regain his confidence.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

    Sabres' Alex Lyon: Knight slayer

Lyon made 27 saves in a 3-2 win over Vegas on Tuesday.

The Sabres staked him to a 3-0 lead before he wobbled slightly in the second. On the first goal, Lyon was headed left for a save when Ivan Barbashev grabbed a rebound and scored on a wraparound at the opposite post. The second came 1:37 later when Pavel Dorofeyev scored five-hole on a breakaway. Lyon has won both games he has played since the break; he allowed four goals total. He's 16-8-3 with a 2.66 GAA, .915 save percentage and two shutouts in 27 starts this season. Best of all, he has helped propel the Sabres to within two points of first in the Atlantic Division.

  • Penguins' Stuart Skinner: Better in black and gold

Skinner made 26 saves in a 2-1 loss to Boston on Tuesday.

Skinner was strong, aside from the two goals he allowed in a 50-second span in the first period. Skinner went into the break with a 4-0-1 record, but he's 0-1-1 in two games since the return. Skinner has been a better netminder in Pittsburgh's system than he was in Edmonton's run-and-gun.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Climbing all-time defensemen point list

Karlsson scored Pittsburgh's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Boston on Tuesday.

He wired a shot from the point that beat Jeremy Swayman. It was Pittsburgh's first shot of the game. Karlsson is on a three-game, four-point scoring streak that includes three assists and 10 shots. He's on a 55-point pace, which would give him four straight seasons with at least 53 points and 10 of his 17 NHL campaigns. Karlsson has 909 points (1,139 games). At his current pace, he may hit the 1,000-point mark in 2027-28. Karlson is currently 13th all-time in scoring from the blue line, and with decent health, he will pass Bobby Orr, who has 915 points, into 12th later this season.

  • Boone Jenner C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner: Dealing with lower-body injury

Jenner missed Tuesday's game versus the Predators due to a lower-body injury, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Jenner's injury wasn't revealed before the game. The 32-year-old is considered day-to-day with the issue, which suggests it won't be a long-term concern for him. Kent Johnson replaced him in the lineup, but someone else could exit once Jenner is cleared to play again.

  • Bruins' Casey Mittelstadt: Three points in last four games

Mittelstadt scored the game-winning goal Tuesday in a 2-1 win over the Penguins.

Mittelstadt buried a rebound in the first 50 seconds after Boston tied the game. It was his 13th snipe of the season and 30th point (50 games). He's five goals from equaling his career mark of 18 goals, which he set in 80 regular-season games between Buffalo and Colorado in 2023-24. However, Mittelstadt's 22.4 shooting percentage is likely to crash, given his 12.9 percent career average. He may have some value as a left-wing streamer as he heats up. He has three points, including two goals, in his last four games.

  • Cole Smith LW | LV

Golden Knights' Cole Smith: Dealt to Vegas

Smith was traded to the Golden Knights from the Predators on Tuesday in exchange for Christoffer Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick.

Smith was officially in the lineup Tuesday for Nashville, but logged just one three-second shift. The 30-year-old will now take his talents to Vegas, where he'll reunite with Colton Sissons as a fixture in the Golden Knights' bottom six. Smith fits in well for a physical bottom six in Vegas, and he should also be part of his new team's penalty-killing structure. Smith has just 10 points in 42 outings this season, though he's added 119 hits and 31 PIM, with his toughness being his best asset.
