Stars' Radek Faksa: Questionable for Tuesday

Faksa (upper body) is questionable for Tuesday's qualification matchup against Denmark at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Faksa sustained the injury near the end of Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to Switzerland. He has contributed two assists through three games for Czechia at the tournament.

  • Jeff Skinner LW | SJ

Jeff Skinner: Lands on unconditional waivers

Skinner was placed on unconditional waivers Monday for purposes of contract termination, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Skinner signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Sharks last July. He has posted six goals, 13 points, 56 shots on net and 17 hits across 32 appearances with San Jose in the 2025-26 season. Assuming he clears and his contract gets terminated, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

  • Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Inks three-year contract extension

Bussi signed a three-year, $5.7 million contract extension with the Hurricanes on Monday.

Bussi has had a strong start to his NHL career during the 2025-26 campaign after being claimed off waivers from the Panthers, going 23-3-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .906 save percentage over 27 appearances to begin the year. His extension will keep him under contract with Carolina through the 2028-29 season.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Beaten once Sunday

Hellebuyck stopped 23 of 24 shots in the United States' 5-1 win over Germany on Sunday in the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Hellebuyck made 17 saves in the 5-1 win over Latvia on Thursday and posted another impressive effort this time against Germany. Expect the Jets' netminder to remain the No. 1 option for Team USA in the knockout stages.

  • Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk: Two assists vs. Germany

Tkachuk had two assists, including one on the power play, in the United States' 5-1 win over Germany on Sunday in the 2026 Olympics.

Tkachuk has yet to score a goal for Team USA, but he's been outstanding as a playmaker with five assists over the team's first three group-stage contests. He ranks second among all skaters in assists, trailing only Connor McDavid, who has seven.

  • Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Three points vs. Germany

Matthews recorded two goals, including one on the power play, and an assist in the United States' 5-1 win over Germany on Sunday in the 2026 Olympics.

Matthews was the USA's biggest difference-maker in this win, and he continues to be the Stars and Stripes' biggest scoring weapon. Matthews led all American skaters in the group stage with five points (three goals, two assists) in three appearances.

  • Owen Martin C | WPG

Jets' Owen Martin: Pots two goals for Spokane

Martin scored twice in WHL Spokane's 4-2 win over Wenatchee on Sunday.

Martin ended a seven-game goal drought with this performance. He's up to 16 goals, 33 points and a plus-5 rating over 51 appearances this season. The Jets prospect is one point away from matching his total from the 2024-25 regular season, but it took him just 39 contests to accumulate 34 points last year.

  • Lightning's Zemgus Girgensons: Record-setting Olympian for Latvia

Girgensons picked up an assist Sunday in Latvia's 4-2 loss to Denmark at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

It was his fourth helper in eight career Olympic games, which tied Girgensons with Sandis Ozolinsh for the most among Latvians at Olympics featuring NHL players. Latvia plays Sweden on Tuesday in the qualification playoffs, so Girgensons will have a shot at standing alone on that scoring mountain.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Makes 17 saves in loss to Denmark

Silovs made 17 saves in Latvia's 4-2 loss to Denmark on Sunday at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. He allowed three goals.

Silovs finished the preliminary round with a 1-1-0 record, 3.01 GAA and .873 save percentage. He has allowed seven goals and has played 139:44, the second-most in the Olympics after Juuse Saros. Silovs, who backstopped Latvia to its first Olympic win since 2014 earlier in the competition, will likely be in the blue paint Tuesday in a tough matchup against Sweden in the qualification playoffs.

  • Dominik Shine RW | DET

Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Hat trick in AHL win

Shine scored three goals in AHL Grand Rapids' 5-0 win over Texas on Sunday.

Shine has earned his first 20-goal campaign in the AHL with this performance. He's up to 34 points, 91 shots on net and a plus-22 rating through 34 appearances. The winger cooled off in January but has five goals over his last two outings and may be heating up again.
