Eight waiver claims from Friday:
- The Twins have claimed pitcher Josh Roenicke off waivers from the Rockies, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported. Roenicke was often used as first relief in the early or middle innings as the Rockies used just four starters last season; he threw 88.2 innings with a 3.25 ERA despite just a 1.26 K/BB.
- The Twins also claimed infielder Thomas Field from the Rockies, Renck added. Field spent a majority of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he hit .246/.315/.400.
- The Brewers have claimed pitcher Arcenio Leon off waivers from the Astros, the club announced. Leon, 25, had a 4.38 ERA in 63.2 innings at Double-A Corpus Christie last season. First baseman Travis Ishikawa was outrighted to make room on the 40-man roster.
- The Royals have claimed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso from the Rockies and catcher Brett Hayes from the Marlins, Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reported. Moscoso allowed a 6.12 ERA in 50 innings with the Rockies, including eight home runs allowed. Hayes hit .202/.229/.254 for the Marlins in 118 plate appearances.
- The Indians have claimed pitcher Blake Wood from the Royals, Dutton also reported. Wood managed a 3.75 ERA in 69.2 innings for the Royals in 2011 but missed the entire 2012 season due to Tommy John surgery.
- The Cubs have claimed pitcher Zach Putnam off waivers from the Rockies, the club announced. Putnam spent 2012 at Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he posted a 4.15 ERA an 1.648 WHIP.
- The Orioles have claimed infielder Alexi Casilla off waivers from the Twins, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reported. Casilla has spent the last seven years with the Twins, with a .250/.305/.334 careeer line.
