- If the Phillies sell, they'll make a lot of players available. Shane Victorino could be a fit with the Yankees. Our own Danny Knobler has mentioned the Reds as a landing spot for Victorino or outfielder Juan Pierre. Knobler has also linked Jimmy Rollins to the Dodgers.
- The Cubs would take on most of Alfonso Soriano's remaining contract in a trade.
- The Reds could also consider Twins outfielder Josh Willingham, but it would probably take a lot to get him.
- Nightengale speculated the Mariners could be looking to move Ichiro Suzuki. Suzuki has struggled this season, hitting just .259/.286/.349. He's making $17 million.
- Justin Upton will be traded. If not now, then during the winter. The Diamondbacks will also look to move Stephen Drew at the deadline. They've spoken to the Mariners, who will not give up infielders Dustin Ackley or Kyle Seager.
- If the Pirates want to make a play for Upton, they may need a third team to get a deal done.
