Dodgers' Tim Federowicz: Heads to minor-league camp
The Dodgers reassigned Federowicz to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
The 33-year-old is expected to provide some experienced catching depth for Los Angeles in the upper levels of the minors this season, but he likely won't be in store for a call-up to the majors unless the Dodgers are down at least two of Will Smith, Austin Barnes and Keibert Ruiz at a given time. Federowicz has spent parts of eight seasons in the majors, accruing a .192 lifetime average across stints with the Dodgers, Cubs, Giants, Astros, Reds and Rangers.

Dodgers' Tim Federowicz: Returns to Dodgers organization
Federowicz announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he agreed to a contract with the Dodgers.
Federowicz presumably agreed to a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to big-league spring training. He'll be rejoining the organization with which he made his MLB debut in 2011, before he eventually moved on to the Cubs, Giants, Astros, Reds and Rangers. The 33-year-old catcher didn't appear in the big leagues in 2020, but he trained regularly with the Rangers as a member of Texas' 60-man roster pool.

Rangers' Tim Federowicz: Included in player pool
Federowicz was named as part of the Rangers' 60-man player pool Sunday.
Federowicz is one of four catchers in the player pool not on the 40-man roster. He spent much of 2019 with the Rangers, who acquired him from the Indians in June, when injuries left them shorthanded at catcher. The 32-year-old backstop batted .160/.213/.347 over 29 games with Texas. The Rangers have Robinson Chirinos and Jose Trevino as the top two catchers in the pool with Jeff Mathis the likely third catcher.

Rangers' Tim Federowicz: Outrighted to Triple-A
Federowicz was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
The Rangers designated both Federowicz and infielder Asdrubal Cabrera for assignment Wednesday, but only the former will stick around in the organization after the latter was granted his release upon clearing waivers. Texas appears ready to commit to younger backstops Jose Trevino and Isiah Kiner-Falefa as part of a timeshare behind the dish with Jeff Mathis, so Federowicz is unlikely to resurface in the big leagues again in 2019 unless an injury strikes one of the aforementioned three catchers.

Rangers' Tim Federowicz: Removed from 40-man roster
Federowicz was designated for assignment after Wednesday's win over the Mariners, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Federowicz started 22 games behind the plate since being acquired by the Rangers in early June, but his .169/.224/.366 slash line and 35.4 percent strikeout rate certainly left something to be desired. Jose Trevino will be called up to cover catching duties with Jeff Mathis in his place.

Rangers' Tim Federowicz: Sitting after back-to-back starts
Federowicz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Despite drawing starts both of the past two days, Federowicz still appears to be stuck in a timeshare behind the dish with Jeff Mathis, who gets the nod at catcher in the series finale. Federowicz is batting just .180 since joining the Rangers in early June and could lose his spot on the active roster once the team decides Isiah Kiner-Falefa is ready to return from Triple-A Nashville.

Playing his first game as a Ranger, Federowicz homered to break the game open by lifting the Rangers to a 10-4 lead. The 31-year-old backstop is likely to split time with Jeff Mathis as Isiah Kiner-Falefa (finger) is currently on the injured list.

Rangers' Tim Federowicz: Traded to Texas
Federowicz was traded from Cleveland to Texas on Friday in exchange for cash or a player to be named later.
The veteran will head immediately to the big leagues to serve as the backup catcher behind Jeff Mathis while Isiah Kiner-Falefa (finger) is on the injured list. Federowicz owns a .199/.247/.323 slash line over parts of seven seasons and is unlikely to make a significant fantasy impact during his time on the big-league roster.

Indians' Tim Federowicz: Gets MiLB deal from Tribe
Federowicz signed a minor-league contract with the Indians on Thursday.
Federowicz's contract includes an invitation to big-league spring training, but he won't be a strong candidate to crack the Opening Day roster unless one of Roberto Perez or Kevin Plawecki begins the campaign on the injured list. A 31-year-old journeyman, Federowicz has appeared in 134 games at the MLB level between the Dodgers, Cubs, Giants, Reds and Astros, submitting a .199/.247/.323 slash line.
