Drew Storen: Cut by Philly
Storen was released by the Phillies on Sunday, Jayson Stark of The Athletic reports.
The veteran right-hander signed a minor-league deal in January and was pushing for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen before spring training was suspended, but the team won't be including him in its initial 60-man roster pool. Storen hasn't pitched in the majors since 2017 with the Reds and had 10.1 innings at the Double-A level last season.

Phillies' Drew Storen: Pushing for bullpen spot
Storen was making a decent case for an Opening Day roster spot before play was shut down, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Storen gave up two runs in five Grapefruit League innings, striking out five while walking none. It's been awhile since the 32-year-old has made an impact at the big-league level, as he missed all of 2018 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and threw just 10.1 minor-league innings last season. After spending four months at the famed Driveline Baseball development program following last year's struggles. However, he believes he's set for a much stronger 2020 campaign. It would be a surprise if the veteran gets anywhere near a ninth-inning role, but he's had success in the past, saving 99 games with a 3.45 ERA in the eight seasons prior to his injury.

Phillies' Drew Storen: Lands with Phillies
Storen signed a minor-league deal with the Phillies which includes an invitation to big-league camp Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Storen hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors since 2017. He missed all of 2018 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and was released by the Royals in mid-June of last year after struggling to a 7.84 ERA in 10.1 innings for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. If the 32-year-old can pitch anywhere near his overall career numbers, which include a 3.45 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, he'll be a useful member of the Phillies' bullpen. That doesn't seem particularly likely, however, as he hasn't posted an ERA below 4.45 since the 2015 season.

Drew Storen: Let go by Kansas City
Storen was released by the Royals on Wednesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Storen signed with the Royals in February and made his way to Double-A Northwest Arkansas in late May, but he struggled with a 7.84 ERA and 1.98 WHIP over 10.1 innings. The 31-year-old missed the entirety of 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and will likely have to prove himself in the minors if he manages to latch on elsewhere.

Royals' Drew Storen: Assigned to Double-A
Storen (elbow) was assigned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Thursday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
He was singed to a minor-league deal in the offseason and will be given a friendly assignment to Double-A in an attempt to get him into a groove before bumping him up to Triple-A Omaha. Storen will serve as organizational bullpen depth going forward.

Royals' Drew Storen: Stuck at extended spring
Storen (elbow) remains at extended spring training as he attempts to build up arm strength before reporting to one of the Royals' minor-league affiliates, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2017, Storen missed the entire 2018 campaign but reported to spring training with no specified limitations. Though he was expected to contend for a bullpen gig with the big club this spring, Storen's diminished velocity and poor command torpedoed those hopes. The Royals remain optimistic Storen will be able to contribute in relief at some point in 2019, but a promotion to the big leagues shouldn't be considered imminent until he reports to the minors and turns in quality results.

Royals' Drew Storen: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Storen was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday.
Storen is attempting to come back after missing all of 2018 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. His four earned runs and seven walks in 2.1 spring innings didn't help his case to break camp with the big-league squad.

Royals' Drew Storen: Agrees to deal with Royals
Storen (elbow) agreed to a minor-league contract with the Royals on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The deal is pending a physical, a process which can't be taken for granted given that Storen sat out the entirety of 2018 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 31-year-old owns a career 3.45 ERA, though he hasn't posted an ERA below 4.45 since 2015. If healthy and effective, he could be an important member of a potentially shaky bullpen.

Storen (elbow) passed his physical and is ready to compete for a spot on the major-league roster during spring training, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Storen agreed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training Friday, and the deal was made official after he passed his physical. Drew Storen: Ready to throw for teams
Storen (elbow) has resumed throwing off a mound and will pitch in front of major-league clubs in the near future, Jon Heyman of Fancred reports.
Storen was forced to sit out the entire 2018 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September of 2017. The 31-year-old appears to be throwing all of his pitches without any limitations, so he should be fully operational at the start of spring training. During the 2017 campaign with Cincinnati, he logged a 4.45 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 54.2 innings of relief.

Reds' Drew Storen: Shifted to 60-day DL
Storen (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Sunday.
Storen will be out indefinitely as he will soon undergo Tommy John surgery, so his placement on the 60-day DL will simply open up a spot for the recently claimed D.J. Peterson to join the Reds' 40-man roster.

Reds' Drew Storen: To undergo Tommy John surgery
Storen (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Storen has been sidelined since Sept. 1 with a right elbow strain and will now miss the remainder of the season (and likely all of next season) as he undergoes Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm in the coming days. He'll finish the 2017 campaign with a pedestrian 4.45 ERA over 54.2 innings of relief with the Reds.

Reds' Drew Storen: Lands on disabled list Wednesday
Storen was placed on the 10-day DL due to a right elbow sprain, retroactive to Sept. 10.
There hasn't been any word on the severity of Storen's injury or a timetable for the future, but he will be eligible to return to the mound Sept. 20 when the club hosts St. Louis. Storen's last appearance came against the Pirates on Sept. 1, which signals that there's been an issue for quite some time. Over the course of the 2017 season, he's accumulated a 4.45 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 54.2 innings of relief.
