Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery10D agoAs expected, the Tigers have declined their 2025 club option for Casey Mize. He will be paid a $10,000 buyout and remain under team control. Mize will make less as an arbitration player (about $2M) than he would have via the option ($3.1M), which is why the Tigers declined it.

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery10D agoThe Tigers reinstated four players from the 60-day IL: Javier Baez, Alex Faedo, Sawyer Gipson-Long and Brendan White. Bligh Madris, Brayn Sammons and Ryan Vilade were waived to create space on the 40-man roster. They have cleared waivers and been outrighted.

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery10D agoThe Tigers announce that they've traded RHP Devin Sweet to the Phillies for cash considerations. He was due to hit minor-league free agency tonight, so that presumably means the Phillies will be adding him to the 40-man roster.

Jason Beck@beckjason11D agoMiguel Cabrera is Tigers’ last Silver Slugger award winner, taking the honor at 1B in 2016.

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery14D agoIf the Dodgers offer a qualifying offer, there's a good chance that Buehler would accept it, meaning he wouldn't become Flaherty 2.0 for the Tigers. But you know who won't have a qualifying offer attached? Jack Flaherty. https://t.co/IzwWbsBEGY

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery15D agoLast year at this time, the Tigers added Keider Montero to preempt his impending minor-league free agency. If there's a similar move in the works, it will come in the next five days. https://t.co/nUHkEjdoHe

Jason Beck@beckjason12/31/1969“We don’t chase payroll thresholds; we chase talent,” Tigers president Scott Harris said. “If there’s a talented player we have conviction on that fits how we play and fits our clubhouse and he costs money, we’re going to pursue him aggressively.” https://t.co/WVnKhleBlG

Jason Beck@beckjason12/31/1969Don't expect Tigers to use bullpen games going forward as regularly as they did down the stretch, in part due to starting prospects like Jackson Jobe. Scott Harris: "It’s nice to have that tool in our tool belt that we could do that if we get to a [similar] point."

Jason Beck@beckjason12/31/1969Just finished end-of-season media session with Scott Harris and A.J. Hinch. Lot to digest, but some quick takeaways: 1. Tigers would like a right-handed bat to balance out a lefty-heavy lineup. 2. They’ll be adding pitching. 3. Tigers would like to keep coaching staff intact.
