  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Gets aboard four times

Pham went 3-for-4 with a walk in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Yankees.

Pham's bat has been hot in September -- he's gone 13-for-41 (.317) over 10 contests this month. He has five multi-hit efforts in that span, and his ability to get on base at a high rate has helped him take over as the Royals' leadoff hitter. Between three teams this season, the veteran outfielder has a .261/.325/.392 slash line with nine home runs, seven stolen bases, 36 RBI and 45 runs scored over 418 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Swats ninth homer

Pham went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.

The veteran outfielder gave the Royals an insurance run when he took Mark Leiter deep in the seventh inning. Pham has started nine straight games since joining Kansas City at the beginning of September, batting .270 (10-for-37) over that stretch with two of his nine homers on the year, along with one steal, five runs and five RBI.

  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Swipes bag in Monday's loss

Pham went 0-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 10-4 loss to the Yankees.

Pham has hit .250 (8-for-32) with three extra-base hits and four RBI over eight contests since the Royals claimed him off waivers from the Cardinals. For the season, the outfielder is at a .253/.319/.380 slash line with eight home runs, seven steals, 35 RBI and 44 runs scored across 101 contests. He's had a chance to settle in as the Royals' main leadoff hitter, moving Maikel Garcia and Michael Massey down the lineup when they play.

  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Powers offense to victory

Pham went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 4-1 win against Cleveland.

Pham accounted for the bulk of the scoring in the contest with a 423-foot, three-run blast in the fourth inning. It was his first long ball as a Royal and his first overall homer since he went deep against the Rays as a member of the Cardinals on Aug. 6. Pham has batted out of the leadoff spot in each of his four games with Kansas City and has gone 5-for-17 in that role thus far.

  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Leads off in team debut

Pham started in right field and went 2-for-5 with a pair of base hits Sunday in the Royals' 7-2 loss to the Astros.

Fresh off being claimed off waivers from the Cardinals, Pham was put to work right away by the Royals, who deployed him as their leadoff hitter in his team debut. Pham could eventually be a candidate to move down the lineup, but he should have a decent amount of leash in a near-everyday role in the corner outfield while Hunter Renfroe (hamstring) is on the shelf. Before being claimed by the Royals, Pham had turned in a .254./321/.378 slash line with seven home runs and six stolen bases in 374 plate appearances between the White Sox and Cardinals this season.

  • Cardinals' Tommy Pham: DFA'd by St. Louis

The Cardinals designated Pham for assignment Friday.

Pham was placed on waivers Thursday, but the Cardinals will now officially move him off the 40-man roster by designating him for assignment. The veteran outfielder had gone just 3-for-39 over his last 15 games with St. Louis, but with his proficiency against left-handed pitching and playoff pedigree, he could draw interest from contenders.

  • Royals' Tommy Pham: Scooped up by Kansas City

The Royals claimed Pham off waivers from the Cardinals on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

The Cardinals designated Pham for assignment Friday after he slashed .206/.286/.368 with two home runs and 12 RBI through 23 games with the team after coming over from the White Sox prior to the trade deadline. He'll now join the Royals for the final stretch of the season and could be a factor in the playoffs as well, as he boasts an .846 OPS through 31 career postseason games.

  • Cardinals' Tommy Pham: Placed on waivers

The Cardinals placed Pham on waivers Thursday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Pham got off to a hot start after being acquired by St. Louis at the trade deadline, but he's just 3-for-39 over his last 15 games and has seen his playing time dwindle. The 36-year-old has a .762 OPS versus left-handed pitching and is a career .313/.333/.513 hitter in 31 postseason games, so there would seem to be a good chance a contender scoops him up on waivers. If Pham clears waivers, he will remain with the Cardinals.

  • Cardinals' Tommy Pham: Sitting again Saturday

Pham is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Pham will sit Saturday for a second straight game. He's struggled from the plate in August, slashing .176/.283/.314 with four runs scored, one home run and six RBI across 60 plate appearances. Alec Burleson, Victor Scott and Lars Nootbaar will man the outfield for the Cardinals.
