Dodgers' Kevin Kiermaier: Losing playing time to Edman

Kiermaier will start in center field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Though he'll pick up his second start in a row Sunday, Kiermaier has faded into more of a part-time role after serving as the Dodgers' primary option in center field through the first three weeks of August. Tommy Edman has since taken over as the Dodgers' preferred center fielder, but manager Dave Roberts will make room for both Kiermaier and Edman on Sunday while the latter fills in at shortstop for a resting Miguel Rojas.
Kiermaier isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Seattle, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Tommy Edman is fresh off the injured list and will draw the start in center field Monday night, booting Kiermaier to the bench. Manager Dave Roberts said before the game that Edman will start at shortstop Tuesday, per Vassegh, meaning Kiermaier will likely be back in center field for the second game of the series.

Kiermaier went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 7-6 win over the Cardinals.
Kiermaier's three-run homer was his first since July 14, and it gave the Dodgers just enough breathing room in the sixth inning. The outfielder hasn't done much at the plate in August, going 6-for-24 (.250) over 11 contests. He's up to a .201/.244/.321 slash line with five homers, 23 RBI, six stolen bases and 27 runs scored across 245 plate appearances between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays this year. Kiermaier continues to see a slight edge for playing time in center field over Andy Pages.

Kiermaier is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Milwaukee, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Andy Pages will occupy center field, as he and Kiermaier ended up splitting the starts at the position during the four-game set against the Brewers. Kiermaier has been the preferred option at the position of late, making six starts to Pages' three across the last nine contests.

Kiermaier will occupy center for the fifth time in six games, with two of his starts coming against left-handed pitching. The Dodgers seem to be favoring Kiermaier over Andy Pages at the moment, with the former's superior defense giving him the edge in playing time while the latter has been slumping at the plate. Kiermaier is batting just 1-for-13 with six strikeouts since joining the Dodgers at the trade deadline and is slashing .188/.233/.296 on the season, so fantasy managers likely won't be able to extract much value from him even if he continues to play ahead of Pages.

Kiermaier went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Pirates.
Kiermaier led off the bottom of the seventh with a single before going on to swipe his sixth bag of the campaign. It marked the outfielder's first hit since being acquired by the Dodgers at the start of August, while the stolen base was his first since June 19 against the Red Sox (as a member of the Blue Jays). Though not an everyday player, Kiermaier could prove to be useful for the Dodgers at times, given his defensive prowess and speed on the basepaths.
