  • Dodgers' Robbie Erlin: Outrighted to Triple-A

Erlin was outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. Erlin was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Wednesday, but he cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. The southpaw will start Saturday's game at Oklahoma City.

  • Dodgers' Robbie Erlin: Banished from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Erlin for assignment Wednesday. Erlin's stay with the big club lasted just four days after the Dodgers summoned him from Triple-A Oklahoma City in advance of Saturday's doubleheader with the Cubs. He made two appearances out of the bullpen for Los Angeles, giving up two earned runs across two innings. If Erlin is able to clear waivers, he'll likely slot back into the rotation at Oklahoma City.

  • Dodgers' Robbie Erlin: Serving as 27th man

Erlin's contract was selected by the Dodgers and he will serve as the 27th man in Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Erlin joined the Dodgers on a minor-league deal in February and posted a 5.82 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 21.2 innings over five appearances (three starts) at Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the year. He'll provide additional bullpen depth in Saturday's twin bill before presumably heading back to the minors.

  • Dodgers' Robbie Erlin: Returns stateside with Dodgers

Erlin signed last week with the Dodgers on a minor-league contract, Chris Hilburn-Trenkle of Baseball America reports. The 31-year-old lefty will make his return to affiliated ball after spending the 2021 campaign in Japan with the Nippon-Ham Fighters, with whom he appeared in 11 games while submitting a 3.32 ERA and 20.5 percent strikeout rate over 38 innings. Erlin previously saw big-league action over parts of seven seasons from 2013 through 2020 with San Diego, Atlanta and Pittsburgh, compiling a lifetime 4.85 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 14.4 K-BB% across 339.2 innings. Though he has experience both starting and relieving at the MLB level, Erlin is expected to serve as organizational bullpen depth at Triple-A Oklahoma City for the Dodgers.

  • Robbie Erlin: To pitch in Japan

Erlin has agreed to a one-year contract with the Nippon-Ham Fighters of Japan's Pacific League, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. The 30-year-old lefty spent last season with the Pirates and Braves and has a 4.85 ERA in 339.2 MLB innings. He could conceivably re-establish himself as a capable starter while pitching in NPB, which could set him up to return stateside in a year or two.

  • Robbie Erlin: Released by Atlanta

Erlin was released by the Braves on Monday. Erlin has made five starts and four relief appearances for the Pirates and Braves this season, but things haven't gone particularly well for him. He's struggled to an 8.10 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 26.2 innings of work.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Designated for assignment

Erlin was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Saturday. Erlin had a rough outing Thursday while starting in place of Max Fried (back), and he'll be cast off the 40-man roster as a result. Sean Newcomb was recalled in a corresponding move, but it's unclear who could take Erlin's place in the rotation going forward.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Hit hard in no-decision

Erlin allowed five runs on six hits while striking out one across 1.2 innings in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Nationals. He did not issue a walk and did not factor in the decision. Erlin was starting in place of Max Fried (back). The Nats jumped on the southpaw for three runs in the first and added two more to chase him in the second. Erlin's rough outing brought his ERA up to 8.10 on the campaign, though Atlanta rallied back to keep a loss off his record. If the Braves decide to give the swingman another start, it will likely come Tuesday in Baltimore.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Set to start Thursday

Erlin will start Thursday's game against the Nationals, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports. Erlin will fill the rotation spot vacated by Max Fried, who landed on the injured list with a back injury. Erlin has a 7.06 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB in 21.2 innings over six outings since being acquired by the Braves. He worked three innings of long relief Monday and is unlikely to have the workload of a traditional starter in his return to the rotation.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Could return to rotation

Erlin could return to the rotation Thursday in Washington, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Erlin has made four starts and four relief appearances this season, struggling to a 6.84 ERA. He could be needed in the rotation again after Max Fried (back) landed on the injured list Tuesday, though he likely won't pitch deep into Thursday's game if he does get a call, as he threw three innings of relief Monday against Miami.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Roughed up again

Erlin allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three across four innings Wednesday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision. Erlin allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base to begin the game, and he surrendered three of his four runs in the opening frame. He did improve from there, with the only major damage a solo home run by Jackie Bradley across his next three innings of work. Erlin now has a 6.95 ERA across 22 innings this season, and is allowing an ugly 2.9 HR/9. He's currently penciled in to draw his next start Monday against Miami.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Struggles return Friday

Erlin allowed four runs on four hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks while striking out three across four innings Friday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision. Erlin was hurt by the long ball as he served up a two-run shot to Andrew McCutchen in the third inning and another to Jean Segura in the fourth. The lefty's ERA has now risen to 6.00 across 18 innings although he does hold a decent 20:5 K:BB. Erlin is next scheduled to take the mound Wednesday in a road matchup against the Red Sox.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Another short outing

Erlin didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Phillies, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out three. Bryce Harper took him deep in the first inning for a two-run shot, but Erlin was able to settle down after that, throwing 67 pitches (39 strikes) before leaving the mound. The southpaw has given a beleaguered Atlanta rotation a couple of decent outings, but if the team adds any reinforcements he would likely be the first arm bumped back to the bullpen. If he gets another turn, Erlin's next start will come Friday in a road rematch with the Phillies.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Scheduled to start Saturday

Erlin is scheduled to start Saturday against the Phillies, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Erlin earned himself another turn through the rotation after tossing four scoreless innings -- allowing just one hit while striking out five batters -- his last time out. As a result of the southpaw getting another start, Touki Toussaint will move back to start Sunday's series finale on an extra day of rest.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Dominant against Marlins

Erlin tossed four scoreless innings in Sunday's win against the Marlins but didn't factor into the decision. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out five. After a shaky first outing with Atlanta, Erlin turned things around Sunday as the Braves' pitching staff held the Marlins to just two hits. However, the southpaw didn't receive any run support early in the game, so he had to settle for a no-decision. Since the Braves are off over three of the next 11 days, it's unclear when Erlin will make his next start.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Starting Sunday

Erlin will start Sunday in the series finale against the Marlins. Erlin's debut for the Braves didn't go as planned as the southpaw gave up four runs in 2.2 innings out of the bullpen Monday against the Phillies. The Marlins offense may look like an easier matchup than the Phillies on paper, but Miami is starting to return some of its key players from the COVID-19 injured list and could present Erlin with another long outing Sunday afternoon.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Rough team debut

Erlin pitched 2.2 innings of relief in Monday's loss to the Phillies, giving up four runs on four hits, including three home runs. He struck out five. The whiffs were nice, but otherwise this was an awful debut in an Atlanta uniform for Erlin, who was claimed off waivers from the Pirates over the weekend. The 29-year-old southpaw could stick around in a low-leverage long-relief capacity given the tattered state of the team's rotation, but after throwing 43 pitches (30 strikes) Monday, he could also be shuffled off the active roster fairly quickly for a fresh arm.

  • Braves' Robbie Erlin: Claimed by Atlanta

Erlin was claimed off waivers by the Braves on Friday. The 29-year-old was designated for assignment by the Pirates last weekend and now has a new team in the Braves. Erlin allowed two runs on five hits through 3.1 innings with Pittsburgh.

  • Pirates' Robbie Erlin: DFA'd by Pittsburgh

Erlin was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Sunday. Erlin allowed two runs on five hits through his first 3.1 innings of the season, leading the Pirates to remove him from the 40-man roster. Tyler Bashlor was acquired from the Mets to fill the roster spot.

  • Pirates' Robbie Erlin: Clinches roster spot

The Pirates selected Erlin's contract and added him to the 40-man roster Monday. The move means that Erlin has officially clinched a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day bullpen, where he'll likely profile as one of the team's top left-handed options. Erlin was roughed up to the tune of a 5.37 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 55.1 innings with San Diego in 2019, but both figures were inflated by a .373 BABIP.
