Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Chased by Mets in fifth inning
Mikolas didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Mets after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out one.
Despite allowing at least one baserunner in three of his first four innings he pitched, Mikolas was able to put up zeroes through four. The Mets chased him from the game in the fifth, however, as Tyrone Taylor tripled and Juan Soto singled to drive in one run apiece. The soft-throwing right-hander doesn't exhibit much strikeout upside, as evidenced by his 11 punchouts through 17.2 innings to go with an unsightly 7.64 ERA and 1.58 WHIP this season, so Mikolas won't project as an appealing fantasy option in next week's scheduled start at home against Milwaukee.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Stuck with loss Saturday
Mikolas (0-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over five innings as the Cardinals were downed 4-1 by the Phillies. He struck out five.
It was a respectable bounce-back effort from Mikolas after he got tagged for nine runs (eight earned) in only 2.2 frames by the Red Sox in his last trip to the mound, but a lack of run support kept the veteran right-hander out of the win column. Mikolas will take a 9.00 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB through 13 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Mets.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Hammered by Red Sox
Mikolas (0-1) yielded nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits and a walk over 2.2 innings while taking a loss in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against Boston. He struck out one.
Mikolas coughed up a run in the first inning, and the Red Sox really picked it up from there. Boston plated five runs in the second and four in the third, and Mikolas was eventually chased after a whopping 81 pitches. His ERA shot up to 11.25 with a 4:3 K:BB through eight innings. Mikolas will continue looking for his first win in his next outing, which is projected to be at home against Philadelphia next weekend.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Takes no-decision in season debut
Mikolas did not factor into the decision Monday against the Angels, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out three.
The grizzled veteran entered this outing on the heels of a solid 19.2 innings in the Grapefruit League, pitching to a 3.66 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. Mikolas limited the Angels to two singles and two free passes, allowing both runs on sacrifice flies. The 36-year-old will struggle to produce many strikeouts, as his K/9 has not been above 7.0 since 2019, but he could be viable in deeper leagues if he can limit hard contact and walks. Mikolas will look to continue the respectable work from this appearance in his next start, currently slated to be at Boston this weekend.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Covers five innings Wednesday
Mikolas limited the Mets to one run on five hits and one walk over five innings Wednesday in Grapefruit League action.
Mikolas was facing a Mets lineup that featured most of their regulars, and he put together a solid effort, getting his pitch count up to 73 and limiting the damage to just an RBI single from Francisco Lindor in his final inning of work. The 36-year-old righty has made at least 32 starts in three straight seasons, but over the last two years his ERA sits at an unsightly 5.04. He is guaranteed a spot in the Cardinals' Opening Day rotation.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Wants to throw fewer strikes
Mikolas wants to throw fewer balls in the zone on two-strike counts this season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Mikolas has a microscopic 4.1 percent walk rate over the last two seasons, but he's also surrendered more two-strike hits than anyone in baseball over that span. The goal for 2025 is to try to get hitters to chase with two strikes, which might lead to a few more walks and a higher WHIP but also hopefully more strikeouts. Mikolas is entering the final year of his three-year, $55.75 million contract and will enter the campaign with a spot in the Cardinals' rotation.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Grabs 10th win
Mikolas (10-11) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.
Mikolas had a bumpy season at best, but he ended the year allowing a modest six runs over his last 16 innings, earning two wins with a 12:1 K:BB over that three-start span. He was able to contain the damage to the second inning Friday, and the Cardinals took the lead for good in the fourth. This is the third time in his career Mikolas has reached the 10-win mark, but he did it with a 5.35 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 122:25 K:BB over just 171.2 innings in 32 starts this year.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Notches ninth victory
Mikolas (9-11) earned the win over Cleveland on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings.
Mikolas pitched well in the contest, throwing 59 of 81 pitches for strikes and limiting the Guardians to a single run on a fifth-inning Bo Naylor homer. The right-handed hurler recorded only six whiffs but succeeded by getting ahead of hitters, throwing 17 of 22 first pitches for strikes. Saturday's victory was his first over his past 10 outings, and it was just his third quality start during that span.

Mikolas allowed two runs on three hits over five innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the loss to Toronto.
Mikolas worked through four shutout innings before coughing up a two-run shot to Davis Schneider in the fifth.
