Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans seven in victory
Ray (1-1) earned the win over the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings.
Ray gave up a run in each of the first and second frames, but he settled down from there and ended his outing by retiring seven of the final eight batters he faced. The left-hander wasn't all that efficient -- he needed 96 pitches to complete 5.1 innings -- but looked dominant at times, racking up a hefty 19 swings-and-misses and seven punchouts. Ray has been solid to begin the campaign, allowing four runs while posting an 11:3 K:BB over his first 10.2 innings across two starts.

Giants' Robbie Ray: Falters in sixth for tough loss
Ray (0-1) took the loss against the Yankees on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four across 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.
It was relatively smooth sailing through the first five innings of Ray's start Friday. That quickly changed in the sixth, when he yielded a two-run homer to Aaron Judge, and Ray ended up taking the loss after receiving zero run support from the Giants. It was still an encouraging performance out of the veteran southpaw, especially with the way he ended the 2025 regular season (8.33 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 27.2 innings across his final six starts of the year). Ray is projected to make his next start during the Giants' four-game home series against the Mets that kicks off Thursday.

Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans eight in spring win
Ray picked up the win in Sunday's 7-1 Cactus League victory over the Brewers, striking out eight over five perfect innings.
Ray earned his first win in his fifth Cactus League start, tossing 39 of his 64 pitches for strikes while cruising through five perfect innings. The veteran southpaw has allowed two runs on four hits and eight walks while striking out 15 across 14.2 innings this spring as he gears up for his 13th big-league campaign. Ray logged 32 starts last season, finishing with a 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9.2 K/9 across 182.1 innings, though he struggled with control, posting a 3.6 BB/9.

Giants' Robbie Ray: Will not make another start
Ray is no longer scheduled to start Wednesday against the Cardinals and appears unlikely to pitch again this season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The Giants were officially eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday, and Ray has already logged 182.1 innings in 2025 after missing most of the previous two seasons with injury, so he'll shut things down a little early. The 33-year-old finishes with a 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 186:73 K:BB covering 32 starts. JT Brubaker will start for the Giants on Wednesday.
