The Yankees released Odor on Aug. 1.
Signed to a minor-league deal April 10, Odor was assigned to the Florida Complex League and was immediately placed on the 7-day injured list when rookie-ball play got underway May 4. Odor never ended up appearing in any games at the FCL level or for another affiliate before the Yankees cut ties with the 30-year-old. If Odor pursues a return to affiliated ball in 2025, he'll likely have to settle for another minor-league deal, though retirement or a move to a foreign league may be a more realistic next step.

Padres' Rougned Odor: On bench for afternoon game
Rotowire
Odor will sit for the first portion of Saturday's doubleheader against the Phillies.
Odor has featured regularly against righties of late but hasn't started against a southpaw all season, so it's no surprise to see him on the bench against Ranger Suarez. Odor could return to the lineup for the nightcap against right-hander Taijuan Walker.

Padres' Rougned Odor: Takes seat Wednesday
Rotowire
Odor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Though he's on the bench for the fourth time in five games, three of the lefty-hitting Odor's absences have come against southpaw pitchers. Odor still appears to have the edge on the final spot in San Diego's regular lineup versus right-handed pitching, even though he owns a modest .214/.307/.393 slash line (96 wRC+) in those matchups on the season.

Padres' Rougned Odor: May avoid trip to injured list
Rotowire
The Padres believe that Odor (groin) may not need a trip to the injured list, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
As Cassavell notes on his report, this is an unexpected turn of events. Odor left Friday's loss to the Cubs after tweaking his groin while rounding first on a double, and Padres manager Bob Melvin told reporters that it was widely expected that Odor would need a stint on the injured list. The Padres will now wait a few days before making the decision, but the optimism suggests this could be a short stay on the IL if he is placed on the list early next week.

Padres' Rougned Odor: Out as expected against Cubs
Rotowire
Odor (groin) is not in the starting lineup against the Cubs on Saturday.
Odor suffered a left groin strain in Friday's loss to the Cubs, and Padres manager Bob Melvin suggested that Odor was likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list. That hasn't occurred yet, but the infielder will miss Saturday's game as expected. Ha-Seong Kim gets the start at second base and will hit seventh with Odor out.

Padres' Rougned Odor: Diagnosed with left groin strain
Rotowire
Odor suffered a left groin strain during Friday's loss to the Cubs and he's likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
"[Odor] gives us length in the lineup, has been great for us," manager Bob Melvin said after the game. "So, if you lose him for a significant period of time, it's going to hurt." Odor was injured while rounding second on a double. Assuming he does go on the injured list, Ha-Seong Kim -- who had been filling in at third base for Manny Machado -- would likely shift into a regular role at the keystone.

Odor doubled into the alley in the eighth inning, but the infielder pulled up lame as he ran the bases. Ha-Seong Kim came in as a pinch runner. For now, Odor should be considered day-to-day.

Rotowire
Odor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

His fourth-inning shot of Trevor Williams got the Padres on the board, but they were already down 4-0 by that point.
