Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Picks up first save
Treinen earned a save against the Rockies on Monday by striking out the only batter he faced.
Los Angeles held a 5-3 lead heading into the ninth inning and initially turned to lefty Alex Vesia, who retired two of the three batters he faced. When Colorado decided to send up righty Braxton Fulford as a pinch hitter, the Dodgers countered with the right-handed Treinen. That proved to be a fruitful move, as Treinen needed just four pitches to set Fulford down on strikes. The save was Treinen's first in the regular season since April 9 of last year. He hasn't been in the Dodgers' closer mix even with Edwin Diaz (elbow) out of commission, and Tanner Scott remains the team's most desirable target for saves, though he was likely unavailable Monday after having pitched each of the two previous days.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Notches sixth hold
Treinen pitched a perfect inning and picked up his sixth hold while striking out a batter in a 4-0 win over San Diego on Wednesday.
Treinen entered in the seventh inning and retired the side in order, maintaining the 3-0 lead for the Dodgers. The 37-year-old's scoreless inning marked his fifth such frame in his past six appearances. The right-hander has a 3.31 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB through his first 16.1 innings while filling a setup role that's helped net him six holds.

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Clubs sixth homer in win
Moniak went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Moniak was a key contributor in Sunday's win, launching a 428-foot homer off Blake Treinen to give the Rockies the lead in the seventh inning. The outfielder is off to a strong start in 2026, slashing .273/.305/.655 with six homers, three doubles, 12 RBI and 10 runs through 16 games. The 27-year-old remains a non-factor against left-handed pitching but has steadily produced against right-handers since joining Colorado in 2025.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Struck by errant batted ball
Treinen was struck in the head by a batted ball during practice before Saturday's game against Colorado, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Treinen is being evaluated for a potential head injury, but the team believes he is okay. However, it remains unclear if he will be available for Saturday's matchup against the Rockies. While Treinen hasn't figured into the saves picture for the Dodgers, he does have four holds without allowing an earned run across 6.2 innings to begin the season.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: No serious head injury
Treinen is fine after being hit in the head with a batted ball during batting practice prior to Saturday's game against Colorado, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Treinen was evaluated for a head injury following the incident. He warmed up in the bullpen during the game but ultimately did not appear in the contest, so it appears that a stint on the injured list won't be necessary.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Unsteady so far this spring
Treinen pitched a scoreless inning in a Cactus League outing against Seattle on Friday, allowing three walks and striking out one batter.
Treinen entered in the fifth frame and walked the bases full, but he managed to escape the inning without giving up any runs. The veteran reliever hasn't looked sharp this spring -- he's given up four earned runs with a 3:5 K:BB over 4.1 frames -- but he's essentially a lock for Los Angeles' regular-season bullpen. That said, Treinen had the worst campaign of his career last year, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.84 WHIP with a 36:19 K:BB across 26.2 regular-season innings, so the team may be wary about using him in high-leverage situations right away, especially given his results this spring.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Comes through for one-out save
Treinen picked up the save after issuing one walk and striking out one in one-third of an inning during Monday's 2-1 win over the Brewers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
Treinen was called upon in a sticky situation after Roki Sasaki failed to shut down Milwaukee in the bottom of the ninth, taking the mound with runners on first and third and two outs in a one-run game. The veteran reliever responded by walking William Contreras, then retiring Brice Turang via the strikeout with the bases loaded to secure the Game 1 victory. Treinen has had his struggles down the stretch of the regular season and into the postseason, melting down to allow two runs on three hits while failing to retire a batter in Game 3 of the NLDS against Philly, but he's shown flashes of reliability and could be deployed in a future NLCS save opportunity now that Sasaki's confidence has likely taken a hit.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Continues late-season struggles
Treinen (1-7) was charged with a loss and a blown save against San Francisco on Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks with no strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning.
After Emmet Sheehan gave the Dodgers seven scoreless, one-hit innings, Treinen entered in the eighth to try to preserve a 1-0 lead. The veteran reliever got into trouble immediately, allowing a pair of singles and then a ground-rule, run-scoring double as San Francisco tied the score. Treinen next retired his first batter, but he followed an intentional walk with a non-intentional one to force in another run, then allowed an RBI groundout for the final tally on his line. It's been a very rough September for the right-hander, who has posted an uncharacteristic 11.57 ERA, 2.43 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB while taking five losses over nine appearances spanning seven innings this month. Treinen was a big part of Los Angeles' run to the championship last year, but it's fair to wonder if manager Dave Roberts will feel comfortable going to him in high-leverage situations at the start of the postseason given Treinen's recent struggles.
