Edgin will become a free agent and look for an opportunity with another organization after exercising his opt-out clause. Over 25 games with Triple-A Norfolk this season, he's hit just .161/.291/.253 with one home run and 14 RBI. With the Orioles dismissing both Edgin and fellow southpaw Joely Rodriguez, Rule 5 pick Nestor Cortes appears to have made the club as a second left-hander out of the bullpen behind Richard Bleier. It had been expected that Edgin's knee would be in full health for spring training, and that appears to be the case. There were no reported issues following the procedure. Edgin is done for the year, but knee scopes are relatively minor surgeries, so Edgin should be healthy well ahead of spring training.
