Freitas was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Freitas slashed .239/.310/.345 last season with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate before being released in early July. He's made the most of his spring training opportunities, posting a .967 OPS in 18 plate appearances, but he's not much more than an organizational depth piece behind major-leaguers Will Smith and Austin Barnes.

Freitas' path to playing time with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was blocked with Ben Rortvedt (knee) in the midst of a rehab assignment with the affiliate and prospect Josh Breaux having recently been promoted from Double-A Somerset, so the Yankees elected to cut ties with the veteran backstop. The 33-year-old hit .239 with two home runs in 126 plate appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season and could catch on with another organization that's in the market for experienced catching depth at the Triple-A level.

After a brief stint in the Korean Baseball Organization to begin 2021, Freitas returned stateside last summer, joining the Rays on a minor-league deal. He elected free agency after the season and was able to catch on with another American League East club on a minor-league pact. Freitas agreed to a one-year, $600,000 deal with the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization on Friday, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.
The 31-year-old was set to be one of six catchers on Milwaukee's 40-man roster entering spring training, so he'll opt to head to Korea for the 2021 campaign instead. Freitas has a .200/.268/.288 slash line in 59 big-league appearances but he's expected to mostly serve as a designated hitter for the Heroes while also seeing time at first base and behind the plate.

Freitas will join Triple-A San Antonio as catching depth for the Brewers, serving in a similar role as he did with the Mariners. The 30-year-old is unlikely to see the majors unless Yasmani Grandal or Manny Pina suffers an injury.
Freitas was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.
Friday's acquisition of Tom Murphy from the Giants meant Freitas was no longer needed at the major-league level, and indeed the catcher was sent down to Triple-A Tacoma to clear room for Murphy on the 25-man roster. It's a bit of unfortunate news for the 30-year-old considering he scored a run and hit an RBI sacrifice fly in Thursday's opener against the Red Sox. Freitas was expected to build upon his 2018 numbers (.215/.277/.312 with a home run in 36 games) after the departure of Mike Zunino during the offseason, but evidently it'll be Murphy and Omar Narvaez who will benefit from the available playing time.

Freitas went 1-for-2 in an exhibition loss to the Padres on Tuesday. He finished spring play hitting .409 with two doubles over 22 at-bats across 12 games.
Freitas saw the first 102 plate appearances of his big-league career in 2018 and posted a .215/.277/.312 line with six doubles, a home run and five RBI. Looking ahead to 2019, he could be in for a solid amount of playing time, considering Omar Narvaez, who's never played more than the 97 games he logged with the White Sox last season, has replaced the departed Mike Zunino behind the dish. Freitas showed decent pop over a long minor-league career that began in 2010, hitting or topping 20 extra-base hits in five different stops despite logging 321 plate appearances or fewer in four of them.
Freitas went 2-for-3 with a double in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday.
Just recalled from Triple-A Tacoma, Freitas came through with one of only two multi-hit efforts for the Mariners. The 29-year-old excelled with the Rainiers, but his playing time during September is expected to be sporadic with both Mike Zunino and Chris Herrmann ahead of him.
