  • Dodgers' Blake Snell: Joins reigning champs

Snell signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. After posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 20 starts during his lone season with the Giants, Snell has now earned himself a long-term deal to stay in the NL West. The two-time Cy Young Award winner will be joining an already impressive Dodgers rotation that includes Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow (elbow) and Shohei Ohtani (shoulder).

  • Blake Snell: Free agent after declining option

Snell declined his $30 million player option for 2025 on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Snell probably would have stuck around had he been forced to make his decision following a slow start to his 2024 campaign. However, after collecting a microscopic 1.23 ERA and 114:30 K:BB over 80.1 innings over his final 14 starts, hitting the free-agent market again was a no-brainer. Presumably, Snell will stand a better chance this time around at landing the lucrative, multi-year deal he had looked for last winter.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Fires another gem

Snell (5-3) allowed two hits and a walk over six shutout frames Sunday, striking out nine and earning a win over the Royals. Snell did not allow a runner to reach scoring position in his dominant performance. He generated 12 whiffs on 88 total pitches and, at one point, struck out five straight batters. Snell has yielded two or fewer runs in eight consecutive starts, resulting in a terrific 1.31 ERA and 65:19 K:BB during that span. He owns a 3.12 ERA through 104 innings this season, but looking at his numbers since returning from the injured list July 9, that number drops to 1.23 through 80.1 frames. Snell's final start of the 2024 campaign is projected to be next weekend at home against the Cardinals.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Dominant vs. Orioles

Snell (4-3) earned the win Tuesday over Baltimore, allowing just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 12. Snell was superb Tuesday, allowing a lone single in the second inning while racking up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this year. The 31-year-old Snell has held opponents to two runs or fewer in 12 of his last 13 starts, posting a stellar 1.33 ERA in that span (74.1 innings). His ERA is down to 3.31 across 98 innings this season with a 1.08 WHIP and 136:43 K:BB. Snell's currently in line for a road start this weekend against the Royals.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Fans eight in third win

Snell (3-3) picked up the win over the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight. Both walks and three of the four hits against Snell in the contest came over the first three innings. The lefty would then allow just one batter to reach over his final two frames while generating 17 swinging strikes on the night. The win was Snell's first since Aug. 7 against Washington, and he's now recorded eight or more strikeouts in eight of his last nine outings (excluding his previous start in which he was pulled after just one inning). He also hasn't allowed more than three runs in any outing since June 2 against the Yankees.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Pulled after one inning

Snell did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks over one inning against the Diamondbacks. He struck out two. Snell needed 42 pitches to escape the first inning thanks to a combination of a lack of control along with a lack of help from his defense. Snell was not hit hard, with only one ball leaving the infield but was done in by an infield single, a couple of walks, a throwing error that led to one run and a passed ball on a strikeout that was to have represented the third out and instead resulted in a second run crossing the plate. Despite only allowing one earned run, Snell's outing was complete following the inning. He entered the game with a 1.30 ERA over his previous 10 appearances while having struck out 10 or more four times while allowing one run or less during seven of those performances. He's next slated to take the hill when the Giants head to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Sharp in no-decision

Snell allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Friday. After a mixed bag in Seattle for his last start -- three hitless innings with two runs allowed on six walks -- Snell was back in control Friday. The southpaw has earned a quality start in eight of his last nine outings, though this was just the third time in that span he's limited opponents to one walk or fewer. Snell has been nearly untouchable since the start of July and now has a 3.56 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 114:37 K:BB through 86 innings over 16 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Diamondbacks.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Fans eight in second win

Snell (2-3) picked up the win in Wednesday's 7-4 victory over the Nationals, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight. The veteran lefty stumbled a bit in the third inning, allowing all three of his runs, including a two-run shot by Juan Yepez, but otherwise Snell had little trouble with the Washington lineup and generated 32 called or swinging strikes among his 93 pitches. It was a strong follow-up performance to his no-hitter against the Reds on Aug. 2, and Snell has reeled off five straight quality starts with a 1.32 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 46:8 K:BB through 34 innings during that hot streak. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against Atlanta.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Fires first career no-no

Snell (1-3) issued three walks while allowing no runs in a no-hitter against the Reds on Friday. He struck out 11 in the 3-0 win. Snell issued a walk in the second inning and two more in the fifth before retiring the last 13 batters he faced. He forced 21 swinging strikes on 114 pitches, including 10 via the curveball. Not only was it his first career no-hitter, but it was also his first career complete game. Snell is starting to look more like the Cy Young-winning version of himself after a rough start to the year. Since returning from the injured list a second time, he owns a sharp 0.55 ERA with a 41:10 K:BB over 33 innings. In his last two starts alone he's racked up 26 punchouts in 15 frames. Snell will carry a 4.29 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be in Washington.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Career-high 15 Ks in no-decision

Snell recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts while giving up two hits two walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision Saturday in the Giants' 4-1 win over the Rockies in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The 15 strikeouts were one shy of the franchise record, and it was the most in a single game by a Giants pitcher since Tim Lincecum in 2009. In spite of the incredible performance, Snell was still denied his first win of the season, as he departed the game with a 1-0 lead before reliever Ryan Walker gave up the tying run to the Rockies in the top of the seventh inning. After a rough start to his tenure with the Giants, Snell has started to resemble the Cy Young Award-winning pitcher he was with the Padres in 2023. Over his four July starts, Snell has posted an 0.75 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB in 24 innings. He's the first Giants pitcher since 1911 to record at least 30 strikeouts while allowing fewer than 10 hits in a four-game stretch.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Submits another quality start

Snell allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Monday. Snell's scoreless streak ended when Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, and the Dodgers' outfielder added a second run off the lefty with an RBI single in the sixth. It was still Snell's second quality start in a row, and it's all the more impressive he was able to put in a good effort against a tough opponent. While his ERA is at 5.83 with a 1.37 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB over 41.2 innings, he's trending in the right direction now that he appears to be fully healthy. His next start is expected to come at home versus the Rockies.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Fantastic against Twins

Snell allowed one hit and struck out eight without walking a batter over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday. Snell carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, and he faced the minimum in his start by erasing the one hit he gave up with a double play. The left-hander was denied the win after Camilo Doval blew a save opportunity, but the Giants bounced back for the team victory. Snell has allowed two hits and three walks over 12 innings since returning from a groin injury, finally showing his skills after an injury-riddled start to 2024. He has a 6.31 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 42:17 K:BB through 35.2 innings over eight starts, but he should be considered a buy-low target in fantasy.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Taken off IL, starting Tuesday

The Giants reinstated Snell (groin) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Snell wrapped up his second IL stint of the season with a dominant rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, when he gave up just one walk while striking out nine over five shutout innings. Tuesday will mark Snell's first start since June 2 against the Yankees, and across his six major-league starts this season he has a 9.51 ERA and 1.94 WHIP across 23.2 innings. To make room on the 26-man roster for Snell, the Giants optioned left-hander Kolton Ingram to Sacramento.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Set to return from IL on Tuesday

The Giants will reinstate Snell (groin) from the 15-day injured list and have him start Tuesday versus the Blue Jays in San Francisco, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. As he prepares for his first start with the Giants since June following his second IL stint of the season, Snell will be taking the hill on five days' rest. The southpaw endured some bumps in the road in the first of his two rehab outings in his return from a left groin strain, but he was utterly dominant in his final start for Sacramento on Wednesday, tossing five no-hit, shutout innings while striking out nine. He'll tentatively line up for two starts during the upcoming week, with his second outing set to fall next Sunday versus the Twins in the Giants' final game before the All-Star break.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Dominant in rehab outing

Snell (groin) struck out nine over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Sacramento. He allowed no hits and issued one walk. Making his third rehab start with Sacramento since landing on the 15-day injured list June 3, Snell made quick work of the Reno lineup, needing just 67 pitches (46 strikes) to record 15 outs. Based on how well he performed in addition to increasing his workload, Snell should be ready to return from the IL next week to make his next start with the Giants. Snell should slot back into the rotation as soon as next Tuesday's series opener versus the Blue Jays.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Final rehab start Wednesday

Snell (groin) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to rejoin the Giants rotation after their road trip that ends July 7, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Snell threw three innings in a start with Sacramento on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old will require one more rehab appearance before being reinstated and is on track to make a start with San Francisco prior to the All-Star break. Snell owns a 9.51 ERA across 23.2 innings with the Giants this season.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Next rehab start coming Friday

Snell (groin) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday and make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Snell showed signs of rust during his first rehab appearance with Sacramento on Sunday, and as expected, he'll make at least one more start in the minors before the club considers activating him from the 15-day injured list. The southpaw fired 51 pitches Sunday and will continue to build toward a full workload in his upcoming appearance as he makes his way back from a left groin strain.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Labors in rehab start

Snell (groin) made a rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Sacramento, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while failing to strike out a batter across 1.2 innings. Snell wasn't particularly effective in the first start of his rehab assignment, throwing just 27 of his 51 pitches for strikes in a 5-4 win over Round Rock. Following the contest, the left-hander said he anticipates needing at least one more rehab appearance, if not more, stating that he wants to be "healthy and 100 percent" before he returns from the 15-day injured list, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. Snell had been limited to just six starts in his first season with the Giants before landing on the 15-day injured list June 3 with a left groin strain.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: Set to throw off mound

Snell (groin) is scheduled to throw off the mound later this week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Snell landed on the injured list due to a mild left groin strain he sustained June 2 against the Yankees. He recently began throwing off flat ground, and the 31-year-old southpaw will take the next step in his rehab by throwing off a mound. Snell started in six games prior to his groin injury, going 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB over 23.2 innings.

  • Giants' Blake Snell: MRI shows mild groin strain

Snell was diagnosed Wednesday with a mild left groin strain following an MRI, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The Giants expect to have a better idea Thursday as to a potential timetable for Snell to return to the mound, but the initial imaging seems to have revealed relatively good news. Snell's tenure with the Giants has gotten off to a rocky start, as he's posted a 9.51 ERA in five starts and has made a pair of trips to the injured list.
