Dodgers' Vidal Nuno: Inks MiLB deal with Dodgers
Nuno has signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers and will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Nuno last pitched in the majors with the Rays in 2018, posting a 1.64 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 33 relief innings. Despite that success three years ago, Nuno failed to crack a big-league roster during the past two-plus seasons. The 33-year-old will report to Oklahoma City, where he'll look to progress towards a major-league call-up at some point this summer.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Inks deal with Rays
Nuno signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on Monday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Nuno was cut loose by the Nationals one week ago, but it didn't take him long to find a new home. He'll report to Triple-A Durham after accruing a 7.25 ERA and 1.76 WHIP with a 25:12 K:BB over 22.1 frames while with Triple-A Fresno earlier in the year.

Vidal Nuno: Released by Nationals
Nuno was released by the Nationals Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Nuno was assigned to Triple-A Fresno to begin the season. However, the team has now officially parted ways with him after he posted a 7.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 25 strikeouts across 22.1 innings this season.

Nationals' Vidal Nuno: Accepts minor-league assignment
Nuno did not opt out of his contract after being assigned to Triple-A Fresno, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Nuno has a second opt-out on June 15 if he remains off the 25-man roster. That could give him a better chance at a promotion than most players who aren't on the 40-man roster.

Nationals' Vidal Nuno: Won't make Opening Day roster
Nuno was told Saturday that he won't make the Opening Day roster, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Nuno was in the mix for a bullpen spot but will lose out despite a solid spring in which he recorded a 3.18 ERA with a 6:1 K:BB in 5.2 innings. The veteran can elect to opt out rather than head to the minors, so his destination for the start of the season remains unknown.

Nationals' Vidal Nuno: Odds of bullpen job improving
Nuno faces a clearer path to winning a spot in the Nationals' bullpen following the release of Sammy Solis, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
The Nats already have two lefties ticketed for the bullpen in Sean Doolittle and Matt Grace, but Doolittle's spot as the closer creates an opening for a third. Nuno has been fairly sharp this spring in his limited reps, posting a 6:1 K:BB and 4.50 ERA in four innings without allowing a homer, and the 31-year-old is coming off a strong campaign with the Rays in 2018 in which he delivered a 1.64 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB over 33 innings while being used in a variety of roles. Nuno has an opt-out clause in his minor-league deal if he's not on the 25-man roster by March 27, but if he keeps performing in camp he should have little difficulty securing a big-league job by Opening Day, whether in Washington or elsewhere.

Nationals' Vidal Nuno: In mix for starting role
Nuno will compete for a rotation role in spring training, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
The Nationals apparently see Nuno as a possible fit at the back of their rotation, something of a surprise considering he's started just one game since 2015. Between Joe Ross and Erick Fedde, the team doesn't have a player with a firm hold on the fifth starter job, so it's possible Nuno wins it in an upset, though a bullpen role is far more likely if he makes the team.

Nationals' Vidal Nuno: Signs with Nationals
Nuno signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Thursday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
Nuno missed a good chunk of the 2018 season due to a hamstring injury, but he impressed when healthy, posting a 1.64 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB across 33 innings of relief for the Rays. The 31-year-old southpaw will compete for a spot on the team's Opening Day roster as a middle reliever who can eat innings if necessary.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Brought back from DL
Nuno (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Nuno is set to rejoin the Rays after spending close to two months on the shelf with a hamstring injury. The southpaw made three minor-league rehab appearances before he was cleared to return, allowing four runs over 7.1 innings while striking out eight. Prior to suffering the injury, Nuno posted a shiny 1.50 ERA across 24 innings for the Rays.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Throws 49 pitches in third rehab
Nuno (hamstring) started High-A Charlotte's loss to Clearwater on Sunday and allowed an earned run on four hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He recorded three strikeouts.
Although he wasn't as sharp as in a three-inning, three-hit, four-strikeout scoreless effort versus Bradenton last Tuesday, Nuno encouragingly bumped his workload up to 49 pitches Sunday. That volume would imply the veteran southpaw's arm is appropriately conditioned for a return to big-league action, but it remains to be seen if the Rays will want him to get at least one outing in versus a higher level of competition before activation.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Struggles in first rehab appearance
Nuno (hamstring) allowed three earned runs on five hits over 1.2 innings in High-A Palm Beach's loss to Charlotte on Friday. He struck out one.
As his final line implies, the veteran southpaw was nowhere near sharp, and all three earned runs he surrendered came off a pair of home runs. Nuno is slated for multiple rehab appearances, and by the looks of Friday's outing, he'll need plenty of work before being deemed ready for activation.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Begins rehab assignment
Nuno (hamstring) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte on Friday, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
Nuno is expected to require multiple appearances in the minors before being activated from the DL. He's been sidelined since early July due to a right hamstring strain.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Closing in on rehab assignment
Nuno (hamstring) is close to beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Nuno has been shut down since July 3 with a right hamstring strain, with his rehab process taking far longer than the Rays initially anticipated. After his progress plateaued in late July, Nuno was cleared to resume a throwing program a little over a week ago and looks like he's ready to face live hitters again. Once Nuno heads to the minors, he'll likely require multiple appearances before the Rays feel comfortable inserting him back into their bullpen.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Throws bullpen session
Nuno (hamstring) tossed a 20-pitch bullpen session Thursday and will embark on a rehab assignment in the near future, Joey Knight of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
Knight added that Nuno might be back in action during the club's next homestand, which doesn't begin until Aug. 20. If Nuno is able to head out on a minor-league assignment in the next few days, it wouldn't be surprising to see him return prior to that timetable, but the Rays could have the southpaw throw another bullpen session before going up against live action.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Resumes throwing
Nuno (hamstring) threw off flat ground Tuesday and will throw off the mound Thursday, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
Nuno has been out with a hamstring strain since early July. He was nearing a rehab assignment at the end of the month but was briefly shut down after suffering a minor setback. He's back throwing now, but it's unclear how much more time he'll need before he can make a rehab appearance.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Hits 'plateau' in rehab
Manager Kevin Cash stated Wednesday that Nuno (hamstring) has "kind of plateaued" in his rehab, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. "We're trying to get him strengthened up," he said. "Probably a couple of days of not doing anything, then get him back out there so his arm can stay in shape."
Nuno was slated to make an appearance for High-A Charlotte on Tuesday, but that did not come to pass. Instead, the Rays are giving the veteran some down time before they ramp his rehab back up, keeping his potential activation date up in the air for the time being.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Rehab assignment set
Nuno (hamstring) is set to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Nuno has increased his activity this past week, working up to a Saturday bullpen session after playing catch from 90 feet Thursday. It appears he emerged setback-free from throwing off a mound, leading to the confirmation of his rehab assignment. It's unknown whether Nuno will complete all his rehab work with the Stone Crabs, or whether the Rays will have him face a higher caliber of competition at Double-A Montgomery or Triple-A Durham as well before activation.

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Ramps up activity Thursday
Nuno (hamstring), who's scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, played catch from 90 feet Thursday and completed fielding work, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
It was an excellent tune-up for Nuno ahead of Saturday's bullpen, which will represent another important step in his recovery. The veteran reliever will be throwing to Wilson Ramos, who's in the midst of rehabbing his own hamstring issues. If Nuno emerges from Saturday's activity free of setbacks, a minor-league rehab assignment might be on tap in the coming days.
