  • Mets' Orlando Calixte: Joins Mets organization

The Mets assigned Calixte to Triple-A Syracuse after purchasing his contract from the York Revolution of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

The 29-year-old Calixte will help restore some depth at the Triple-A level in the wake of the affiliate sending multiple players to the big leagues in recent days while the Mets have contended with numerous injuries in the infield and outfield. Calixte previously saw limited action with the big leagues in 2015 and 2017, playing in two games for the Royals and in 29 games for the Giants in those respective seasons.

  • Mariners' Orlando Calixte: Yet to report to camp

Calixte remains in the Dominican Republic as he waits on his visa and won't make it for Saturday's first team workout, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

It's unknown as to how long it will take for Calixte's visa to process, but he'll remain in the Dominican Republic for the time being. This may have an impact on his chances of making the big-league roster, though his odds of making the team were likely slim to begin with.

  • Mariners' Orlando Calixte: Reaches minors deal with Seattle

The Mariners signed Calixte to a minor-league contract, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

After making 29 appearances for the Giants in 2017, Calixte played exclusively at the Triple-A level last season, slashing .270/.323/.405 across 545 plate appearances with Sacramento. Though he'll likely get an opportunity to audition for the Mariners at big-league spring training, it's expected that Calixte will stick around in the Pacific Coast League in 2019 at Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Cut from major-league camp

Calixte was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Calixte went 7-for-25 (.280) with a home run over 17 games this spring. Although he's in line to report to Triple-A Sacramento when the season begins, Calixte could be called up to the big club if the Giants' outfield gets hit by injuries. However, after hitting .143/.185/.163 over 29 games in the Show last season, San Francisco may opt to look elsewhere if the need for a reserve outfielder arises.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Outrighted to Triple-A

Calixte was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Calixte will stick in the Giants' organization after passing through waivers untouched. The 25-year-old failed to impress during his brief time with the big club last season, hitting just .143/.185/.163 in 29 games. He'll report to Sacramento, where he hit .243/.283/.421 in 97 games last year.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Designated for assignment

Calixte was designated for assignment Monday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Calixte didn't impress during limited action with the Giants last season. Over 29 games, he posted a dismal .143 batting average and .348 OPS. While his performance was better at Triple-A Sacramento, it didn't stand out. Over 97 games with Sacramento he slashed .243/.283/.421.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Joining big-league club

The Giants are calling up Calixte from Triple-A Sacramento, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The utility man has compiled a .246/.285/.427 line with 14 home runs and 19 stolen bases at Sacramento this year but has much more to prove in the majors to make himself worthy of fantasy consideration. Calixte will back up several positions but could earn a few starts per week for the floundering Giants.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Sent back to Triple-A

Calixte was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento following Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Calixte has bounced back and forth between the Giants and Sacramento over the past few months, going 1-for-5 with one RBI during a brief stay in San Francisco over the past 10 days. The 25-year-old is a good candidate for a September call-up once rosters expand, but would likely continue to serve as depth off the bench for the rest of this season.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Recalled from Triple-A

Calixte was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Calixte was summoned back to the big club to take the place of Joe Panik, who hit the concussion DL. The 25-year-old posted a .172/.242/.207 slash line in 10 games with the Giants earlier in the season, so he will likely play primarily off the bench.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Reports back to minors

Calixte was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento prior to the Giants' game Monday against the Marlins, MLB.com reports.

Calixte served as the 26th man in the Giants' doubleheader Sunday against the Nationals, but didn't see any usage in either contest of the twin bill. He'll likely serve in an everyday role with Sacramento before potentially rejoining the Giants as a September callup.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Recalled for doubleheader

Calixte was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Heads back to minors

Calixte was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

The Giants wanted more bullpen depth for the remainder of their series with the Pirates, so Calixte will be replaced by Chris Stratton on the active roster. The utility man went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his most recent cup of coffee with San Francisco, and he figures to be on the shuttle for the rest of the season.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Called up by Giants

Calixte was recalled by the Giants on Saturday and is in the starting lineup, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

He went just 4-for-25 with 10 strikeouts in a promotion earlier this season, but will get another shot to prove himself as a replacement for the struggling Jae-Gyun Hwang, who was sent down in a corresponding move. Calixte's ability to play multiple positions in both the infield and outfield could give him plenty of opportunities -- especially with Austin Slater (hip) out for at least another month -- but he'll need to show improvement at the plate to earn an everyday role.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Sent to minors

Calixte was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Calixte had been splitting left field duties with Austin Slater for the past week, but after collecting just four hits during his time in the big leagues, he'll head back to the minors for more development. Sam Dyson will take his spot on the active roster.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Struggles continue Wednesday

Calixte went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.

The 25-year-old rookie has struggled with a regular role, hitting a meager .167 (4-for-24) since being called up May 30. The Giants' struggles in left field this season are well documented, so they are looking at all options to see if one of their young options sticks. If Calixte doesn't turn things around, he could lose playing time quickly to either Austin Slater or one of the club's other left-field eligible options.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Hits bench Tuesday

Calixte is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Calixte had started the previous six games in the outfield, providing a .280 on-base percentage during that stretch. Now that Hunter Pence has returned from the disabled list, Calixte's hold on an everyday role is likely less secure, so he'll have to perform well in order to maintain his spot in the lineup. Austin Slater will get a look in left field Tuesday.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Draws fifth straight start

Calixte will start in right field and bat eighth Sunday against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Calixte will make his fifth straight start Sunday after going 4-for-15 with a double, two walks and three RBI over his first four contests with the big club. The 25-year-old's ability to play all three outfield spots as well as the middle infield may allow him to see at least semi-frequent starts for as long as he remains with the big club, but his at-bats should take a hit once Hunter Pence (hamstring) rejoins the lineup. Pence was activated from the disabled list and is available off the bench Sunday, so it's expected he'll settle back into an everyday role beginning with Monday's game in Milwaukee.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Two hits, two RBI in Giants debut

Calixte went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals.

It was an impressive Giants debut for the former Royals farmhand, and Calixte ended up playing all three outfield positions over the course of the evening in addition to his contributions at the plate. If he continues to hit, he could remain in the majors as a utility player even after Hunter Pence (hamstring) comes off the DL.

  • Giants' Orlando Calixte: Recalled from Triple-A, leading off Tuesday

Calixte was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Cubs, Alec Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. He is playing left field and leading off.

The 25-year-old was slashing .287/.331/.507 with eight homers and 11 stolen bases with Sacramento before being called up to the big club. He made a brief appearance in the majors with the Royals in 2015, but he only played in two games and failed to collect a hit (0-for-3). Calixte played everywhere but first base and catcher in his professional career, so he'll offer depth across the board off the Giants' bench.

Calixte was optioned to minor league camp Sunday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The utility man hasn't exactly raked in spring training thus far, going 5-for-25 with two RBI and three strikeouts. He'll head down to minor league camp before likely opening the season with Triple-A Sacramento.
