Mooney announced his retirement ahead of Tuesday's game at Double-A Wichita, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Mooney had been in the minors since 2011, but he hit just .163 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base in 36 games at the Double-A level to begin the 2021 campaign. The 30-year-old never reached the majors but spent parts of the last four seasons at the Triple-A level.
