Chapman was scratched from the Giants' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

  • Giants' Matt Chapman: Staying in San Francisco long term

Chapman and the Giants agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension Wednesday.

Per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, Chapman will earn $25 million per year from 2025 to 2030 along with a one-time $1 million signing bonus. His previous contract, a one-year deal for 2024, included options in each of the next three years, but those will no longer be necessary.
