  • Giants' Willy Adames: Out three to four weeks

Adames got a second opinion on his elbow Thursday and is expected to miss three to four weeks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The plan for Adames is to rest, rehab and get a PRP injection. The shortstop landed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 24 due to a sprain in his left elbow. He faces the possibility of being shut down for the rest of the season, as the Giants are not in the playoff picture. If he returns, it wouldn't be until the final weeks of the regular season.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Lands on 10-day IL

Adames was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a left elbow sprain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Adames picked up the injury during Sunday's series finale against Boston, and it'll cost him at least the next 10 days. The Giants will presumably turn to Christian Koss and Osleivis Basabe at shortstop while Adames is on the mend. The club has classified Adames' injury as a moderate sprain, and he'll likely need longer than the 10-day minimum before being activated, per Rubin.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Dealing with elbow injury

Adames suffered a left elbow injury in Sunday's contest against the Red Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Adames was removed from the game in the fifth inning, and the belief is that he sustained the injury in the first inning while sliding awkwardly into home plate. The 30-year-old finished his day having gone 1-for-3, and he's notched at least one hit in nine of his last 11 contests, batting .333 with three home runs, four RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base over that stretch. The Giants should have better idea of the severity of the injury after Adames gets a more thorough examination.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Departs Sunday's game

Adames was removed from Sunday's game against the Red Sox due to an apparent lower-body injury, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The veteran shortstop made an awkward slide into home plate during the first inning, and while he initially remained in the contest, Adames was replaced in the field for the bottom of the fifth. Adames went 1-for-3 with a run scored before departing the contest and should be considered day-to-day for now.

Adames (back) will start at shortstop and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Adames (back) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Adames aggravated a back injury during Wednesday's game against Houston, and although the team still believes he'll avoid a trip to the injured list, the 30-year-old will now miss a second consecutive start. Christian Koss will move over to shortstop while Adames sits, opening up third base for Buddy Kennedy.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Not in Friday's lineup

Adames (back) is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Rockies on Friday.

As expected, Adames will be on the bench for Friday's game while working through a back injury that he aggravated during Wednesday's loss to the Astros. An MRI on Friday revealed a low back strain, but a stint on the injured is unlikely for the 30-year-old shortstop, who is considered day-to-day, per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News. With Adames sidelined, Christian Koss will draw the start at shortstop while Buddy Kennedy mans the hot corner.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: IL stint unlikely

Giants manager Tony Vitello said after Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Astros that the back issues Adames has been working through are unlikely to require a stint on the injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Adames has been working through a back injury that he aggravated during the seventh inning of Wednesday's loss. He's set to have at least two days of rest, given that the Giants are off Thursday and that he's likely to held out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Rockies. Christian Koss is in line to see more infield reps for as long as Adames is sidelined.

Adames went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Royals in a loss Monday.

However, the Royals were able to recover and notch a walk-off win in the bottom of the frame. Adames has opened the second half in fine form, contributing three homers and seven RBI over four contests.
