Giants' Willy Adames: Nursing lower-half injury
Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Adames is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals after experiencing some lower-half pain from his "knee to hip" during Tuesday's 6-3 loss, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Despite dealing with some discomfort, Adames still played the full nine innings Tuesday, finishing 0-for-4 with a walk. The veteran shortstop will hit the bench for just the second time all season Wednesday, but Vitello indicated that Adames shouldn't be headed for any further absences. The Giants are hoping that getting a game off from starting coupled with Thursday's off day will provide enough time for Adames to recover from the issue and rejoin the lineup Friday versus the Cubs.

Giants' Willy Adames: Rare day off
Adames is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.
Adames will get just his second day off of the season and first since April after going 0-for-17 with a 1:9 BB:K over his last four contests. Casey Schmitt will fill in at shortstop for the Giants while Adames gets a breather.

Adames went 2-for-2 with two walks, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBI in Friday's 18-3 rout of the Cubs.
Three different Giants hitters launched two long balls on the afternoon, with Adames' pair coming in the first inning off Edward Cabrera and in the sixth off Hoby Milner. Adames has 11 homers on the season, with eight of them coming in his last 17 games -- a stretch in which the shortstop is batting .297 (19-for-64) with 16 RBI and 17 runs.

Giants' Willy Adames: Pops solo homer against Milwaukee
Adames went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and one walk in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Brewers.
Adames was the only Giants hitter to experience success against Brewers lefty Kyle Harrison. In three trips to the plate against Harrison, Adames walked, singled and belted a solo blast. It was Adames' ninth homer of the season and his sixth in the last 14 games. After a miserable start to the 2026 campaign, Adames is hitting .326 with 13 extra-base hits, including six homers, 18 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .989 OPS over his last 22 games. For the season, Adames is slashing .245/.285/.436 with nine long balls, 24 RBI, 29 runs scored, one stolen base and a 13:70 BB:K across 256 trips to the plate.

Adames' three-hit effort was highlighted by a 108.8 mph grand slam that extended the Giants' lead in the fifth inning. Adames is starting to come around at the plate, going 10-for-41 (.244) over his last 10 games. He's still racked up 11 strikeouts without a walk in that span, and he's added just two extra-base hits. The shortstop is batting .209 with a .584 OPS, three home runs, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, 12 doubles and one stolen base over 39 contests. Adames isn't in immediate danger of losing his place in the lineup, but the Giants' infield is crowded with top prospect Bryce Eldridge joining the mix earlier this week, which has pushed Casey Schmitt into a utility role.
