Rockies' Stephen Gonsalves: Signs minors deal with Rox
Gonsalves signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Tuesday.
The Dodgers brought Gonsalves in on a minor-league deal in January, and he posted a 6.00 ERA and 1.89 WHIP through 18 innings with their Triple-A affiliate before being released Friday. He'll now look to carve out a role for himself within the Rockies organization, though a return to the majors is unlikely barring a drastic turnaround. The 29-year-old southpaw will report to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Dodgers' Stephen Gonsalves: Gets Dodgers NRI deal
Gonsalves signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, J.P. Hoornstra of DodgersNation.com reports.
Gonsalves spent the 2023 season spread across four minor-league levels in the Cubs organization, holding a 5.72 ERA over 22 appearances in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. While he had a 5.72 ERA with 22 walks in 28.1 innings, he also struck out an impressive 44. The left-hander last appeared in the majors in 2021.

Cubs' Stephen Gonsalves: Dispatched to minors
The Cubs reassigned Gonsalves to Triple-A Iowa on Monday.
Even though the Cubs lost multiple rotation candidates and relievers to injuries since the start of camp, Gonsalves appeared to have only an outside shot of breaking camp with the club, even he submitted a tidy 3.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP while striking out eight over six innings this spring. He'll likely serve as a swingman at Iowa, the same role he held last season while he was with Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox organization.

Cubs' Stephen Gonsalves: Signs with Cubs
Gonsalves signed a minor-league deal with the Cubs in early December.
Gonsalves threw just 4.1 MLB innings in 2021, giving up two runs. His previous experience at the highest level saw him struggle to a 6.57 ERA and a 16:22 K:BB over 24.2 frames for the Twins back in 2018. He wasn't particularly impressive for Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox's system last season, either, though his 4.68 ERA did at least come with a 31.2 percent strikeout rate.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Sent down
Gonsalves was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Gonsalves has spent nearly the last two weeks in the big leagues, but he'll head back to the minors following the activation of both Hirokazu Sawamura (COVID-19) and Austin Davis (personal). Gonsalves allowed two runs on two hits and struck out four across 4.1 frames during his time with the Red Sox.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Joins Red Sox
The Red Sox selected Gonsalves' contract from Triple-A Worcester prior to Tuesday's game against the Rays.
A COVID-19 outbreak has ravaged Boston's roster, the bullpen in particular, so Gonsalves joins the team as much-needed pitching depth. The lefty went three innings as recently as Aug. 19, so he could prove useful in a mop-up role Tuesday, assuming newcomer Brad Peacock doesn't provide much length on short rest. Gonsalves' only big-league action came in 2018 when he had a 6.57 ERA in 24.2 innings with Minnesota.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Bound for minors
The Red Sox reassigned Gonsalves to their minor-league camp Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
Gonsalves is projected to open the 2021 season as a member of the Triple-A Pawtucket rotation. His lone big-league action came with the Twins back in 2018, when he submitted a 6.57 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 24.2 innings across seven outings (four starts).

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Rejoins Boston on MiLB pact
Gonsalves re-signed Dec. 22 with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Gonsalves reportedly impressed the Red Sox at their alternate training site this summer, but it wasn't enough for him to earn a callup to the big club during the 60-game season. Despite being outrighted off the 40-man roster earlier this offseason, Gonsalves elected to stick around in the organization for another year. Expect him to open the 2021 campaign in the Triple-A Worcester rotation.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Outrighted off 40-man
Gonsalves was outrighted to Boston's alternate training site.
He went unclaimed after being designated for assignment but will remain in the organization. It's a pretty big indictment that Gonsalves has been unable to help a decimated Red Sox pitching staff at the big league level this season.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Cut from 40-man roster
Gonsalves was designated for assignment Wednesday.
The Red Sox claimed Andrew Triggs, who they obviously viewed as a more worthwhile reclamation project than Gonsalves, who had not received a big-league start this year even amid Boston's rotation depth woes. Look for him to go unclaimed and remain at the alternate training site.

Red Sox's Stephen Gonsalves: Claimed by Boston
Gonsalves was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
The 26-year-old lefty struggled to a 6.57 ERA and a 16:22 K:BB in his 24.2-inning debut for the Twins back in 2018 before missing most of last season due to elbow issues. The Mets claimed him off waivers over the winter but evidently didn't value him too highly. He'll likely be little more than organizational depth in Boston this season.

Mets' Stephen Gonsalves: Added to pool
Gonsalves was added to the Mets' 60-man player pool Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Gonsalves has been on the Mets' 40-man roster since getting claimed off waivers from Minnesota in November, so he'll have a decent chance of making some big-league appearances this year. His first taste of major-league action didn't go well, as he struggled to a 6.57 ERA in his 24.2-inning debut back in 2018. He didn't throw a big-league inning in 2019 as he battled elbow issues for most of the year.

Mets' Stephen Gonsalves: Sent to Triple-A
The Mets optioned Gonsalves to Triple-A Syracuse on March 6.
Gonsalves moved up a spot in the Mets' organizational depth chart after Noah Syndergaard was recently diagnosed with an elbow injury that will require Tommy John surgery, but New York will first turn to Michael Wacha to fill the opening in the rotation. Corey Oswalt and Walker Lockett may also rank ahead of Gonsalves in the pecking order, so the 25-year-old lefty won't necessarily be the next man up if the Mets lose additional starters to injury as the season unfolds.

Mets' Stephen Gonsalves: Claimed by Mets
Gonsalves was claimed by the Mets off waivers from Minnesota.
Gonsalves battled elbow issues last season and made just one appearance at Triple-A Rochester where he threw two innings (he threw 11 innings in rehab outings in rookie ball and Double-A). Gonsalves was coming off his first taste of the majors in 2018 and looked set to compete for a big-league job before the injury. He'll now try to win a role with the Mets, but he likely will need to prove he's healthy at Triple-A.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Activated at Double-A
Gonsalves (elbow) was resinated from the injured list and sent to Double-A Pensacola on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
Gonsalves has battled elbow issues for most of the season, making just a single appearance before beginning his rehab assignment at the rookie-league level in mid-August. He spent the bulk of last season at the Triple-A level and could head there soon before potentially pushing for a big-league bullpen spot for the last few weeks of the season.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Begins rehab assignment
Gonsalves (elbow) began a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League on Saturday.
Gonsalves has not pitched since May 21 due to an elbow injury. It sounds like he could return to the Triple-A Rochester rotation before the end of the season, and he could join the big-league bullpen when rosters expand in September.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Shut down with elbow injury
Gonsalves is dealing with a stress reaction in his elbow/forearm and will be shut down indefinitely, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
His UCL is reportedly intact, so it will be a period of rest before he is reexamined, likely sometime in June. Gonsalves made just one start this season in between injuries, walking five in two innings for Triple-A Rochester. It's possible that he will get right and eventually earn a promotion to the majors this season, but there is little recent evidence to suggest he will be a quality big-league starter, so he may have to settle for a bullpen role.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Set to return from IL
Gonsalves (elbow) is scheduled to come off the 7-day IL and start Tuesday for Triple-A Rochester.
Gonsalves has been out since the start of the season with a left elbow flexor/pronator strain. Gonsalves showed a potential significant improvement in spring training when he reached 93 mph with his fastball during one outing after averaging just 89.8 mph last season. However, he'll likely need several weeks to get back to full speed.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Still sidelined at Triple-A
Gonsalves, who is on the 7-day injured list with a sore forearm, is expected to remain sidelined at Triple-A Rochester for several more weeks, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It doesn't look like Gonsalves is close to returning and it sounds like this issue could be significant. However, there are not too many details as his injury was previously described as a left elbow flexor/pronator strain.

Twins' Stephen Gonsalves: Battling elbow strain
Gonsalves will open the season on the injured list at Triple-A Rochester due to a left elbow flexor/pronator strain, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
The severity of the injury is not yet clear, but it's never good to see a pitcher dealing with elbow issues. If he gets healthy, Gonsalves has a chance to return to the big leagues at some point this season but will need to do much better than last year if he's to stick around, as he stumbled to a 6.57 ERA in 24.2 innings in his debut last year.
