The Cubs acquired Padlo from the Royals on Saturday.
Padlo was assigned to Triple-A Iowa and debuted with the club in Sunday's 10-9 win over St. Louis, starting at first base while going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. The 28-year-old has seen limited big-league action in each of the previous three seasons but has played in 67 games between the Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2024, slashing .185/.299/.342 with nine home runs and nine stolen bases.

Royals' Kevin Padlo: Signs minors deal with Royals
Padlo signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Wednesday.
Padlo was let go by the Dodgers in late May after slashing .216/.340/.380 with 29 RBI through 209 plate appearances with their Triple-A affiliate. It didn't take long for him to find a new gig, but the 27-year-old infielder will drop down to Double-A Northwest Arkansas upon joining the Royals organization. He may be promoted to Triple-A Omaha if his bat stays productive in Double-A, but with a career .325 OPS in the majors, a stint with the Royals is unlikely.

Padlo was released by the Dodgers on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Padlo had appeared in 47 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season after signing a minor-league deal with the Dodgers in January, slashing .216/.340/.380 with six home runs and nine stolen bases across 47 games. Padlo posted a .261 average and .834 OPS with Triple-A Salt Lake City in 2023, but he's never posted more than a .200 average or .375 OPS at the big-league level.

Dodgers' Kevin Padlo: Invited to Dodgers' camp
Padlo signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Padlo was in the Angels organization in 2023, going 1-for-8 at the plate during his brief time with the big club and posting an .835 OPS with 13 homers at Triple-A Salt Lake. The 27-year-old is likely headed to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he'll represent infield depth.

Padlo is back with the Angels for the second time this season after he was previously with the big club for a five-day stretch in June before being designated for assignment and outrighted off the 40-man roster. He'll be joining the Halos this time around as a replacement on the active roster for outfielder Taylor Ward (face), who was placed on the 10-day injured list.
