  • Braves' Matt Carasiti: Inks minors deal with Atlanta

Carasiti signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Friday. Carasiti elected to become a free agent Monday after being DFA'd by the Rockies, and he'll now look to carve out a role for himself with Atlanta. The 32-year-old righty has allowed 10 earned runs in only 8.2 major-league innings this season, so it would likely take a major turnaround at Triple-A Gwinnett for him to spend any amount of time in Atlanta's bullpen.

  • Matt Carasiti: Hits open market

Carasiti elected free agency Monday. Carasiti was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday, and rather than reporting to Triple-A Albuquerque, he'll test free agency. The 32-year-old has appeared in seven games for Colorado in 2024, posting a 10.38 ERA and 2.19 WHIP with seven strikeouts and three walks over 8.2 frames.

  • Rockies' Matt Carasiti: DFA'd by Rox

The Rockies designated Carasiti for assignment Saturday. After getting lit up for five earned runs in just 1.1 innings over his last two appearances, Carasiti will be jettisoned from Colorado's active roster. He owns a 7.41 ERA and 1.89 WHIP through 58.1 career MLB innings and will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.

  • Rockies' Matt Carasiti: Called up to MLB

Carasiti had his contract selected by the Rockies on Friday. Carasiti will join the big-league roster for the first time this season. He'll bolster the Rockies bullpen after logging a 5.91 ERA over 20 appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rockies' Matt Carasiti: Cut from big-league camp

The Rockies reassigned Carasiti to minor-league camp Monday. Carasiti posted a 6.29 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 24.1 innings out of the Colorado bullpen in 2023 before he was moved off the 40-man roster in October. He returned to the Rockies on a minor-league deal in February and made a strong case for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen after striking out 10 over eight scoreless frames in Cactus League play, but Carasiti seemed to get caught up in a numbers game. Assuming he doesn't opt out of his minor-league deal, the 32-year-old right-hander is likely to remain in the organization as bullpen depth at Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rockies' Matt Carasiti: Back in Colorado as NRI

Carasiti signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Jan. 29 that includes an invitation to spring training. Carasiti was roughed up to the tune of a 6.29 ERA and 16:11 K:BB across 24.1 frames for the Rockies last season, but they saw enough promise in him to bring him back. The 32-year-old reliever figures to open the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Carasiti (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. • Giants' Matt Carasiti: Roughed up in spring debut

Carasiti (elbow) allowed four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one-third of an inning Monday versus the Brewers. He was handed the loss. Carasiti's first game action in his return from Tommy John surgery was far less than impressive. The 30-year-old hasn't pitched at any level since 2019, when he logged 9.2 innings with the Mariners, posting a 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. The right-hander seems destined to need some time with Triple-A Sacramento before potentially getting a look with the Giants in the summer.

Carasiti (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Thursday. Carasiti joined the Red Sox on a minor-league deal last year but spent the entire season on the injured list after he underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2020. It's not yet clear when he'll be ready to pitch, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him invited to major-league spring training in 2022 if he's healthy by then.

  • Red Sox's Matt Carasiti: Invited to spring training

Carasiti (elbow) has signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox as a non-roster invitee, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. Carasiti was released by the Giants after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March, but he'll be invited to spring training by the Red Sox. The right-hander may not be ready for game action until after the regular season begins, but he could attempt to carve out a role with his new team. Carasiti last appeared in the majors with Seattle in 2019, posting a 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 9.2 innings.

  • Matt Carasiti: Released by Giants

Carasiti (elbow) was released by the Giants in March, Baseball America reports. He had Tommy John surgery in early March and was on a minor-league deal, so it's not surprising to see him cut loose. • Giants' Matt Carasiti: Set to undergo Tommy John surgery

Carasiti will undergo Tommy John surgery Monday in San Francisco, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Carasiti was hurt during Thursday's spring league game against the Indians. The 28-year-old forkball specialist was off to a promising start to camp and had a great chance to win a bullpen role for the Giants, according to Baggarly. Carasiti hopes to have made a positive enough impression on the San Francisco organization to get another shot to make the roster provided that he has a smooth recovery.

  • Mariners' Matt Carasiti: Removed from 40-man roster

Carasiti was designated for assignment Sunday and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma after clearing waivers, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. • Mariners' Matt Carasiti: Heads to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Carasiti to Triple-A Tacoma after Saturday's 8-1 win over the Tigers. Carasiti's demotion clears a spot on the active roster for Hunter Strickland (lat), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale. The right-hander's first stint in the big leagues since 2016 lasted just over a month, with Carasiti giving up six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and five walks over 9.2 innings.
