Scott struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Rockies.
Scott blew a save Monday, but he was able to bounce back in this appearance, retiring the side on just 11 pitches (seven strikes). He's now 13-for-15 in save chances while adding six holds this season. Scott had an eight-inning scoreless streak prior to Monday and has been consistent enough this season to assume that outing was just a blip. He's pitched to a 2.63 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 49:5 K:BB through 37.2 innings.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Can't convert save Monday
Scott blew a save against the Rockies on Monday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two batters over one inning.
It wasn't a particularly intimidating situation for Scott, who entered in the ninth inning with Los Angeles holding a three-run lead against the team with the second-worst record in the majors. Still, the veteran lefty was unable to put Colorado away, giving up a trio of runs on two doubles, a single and two walks (one of which was intentional). It could have been even worse for Scott, but replay overturned a play at the plate on what was initially ruled the go-ahead run for the Rockies. The blowup followed a strong stretch during which Scott converted seven straight save opportunities while posting a 1.64 ERA and 17:0 K:BB over 11 innings spanning 12 appearances. With that in mind, he should remain Los Angeles' primary closer for the time being, though that will likely change when Edwin Diaz (elbow) returns, which is expected to happen shortly after the All-Star break.

Scott was called upon in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead and worked around a leadoff single to notch his 11th save of the season. Scott retired the side on 11 pitches (nine strikes) to preserve the narrow lead. This was his third scoreless outing in a row, and he's earned a save in each of them, giving him nine saves in 10 chances this season. The trusty southpaw has added a 2.32 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 38:3 K:BB through 31 innings. He has pitched two days in a row, so Alex Vesia or Blake Treinen could be called upon for a save chance if one surfaces Wednesday.

Scott struck out three over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Thursday's 8-6 win over the Pirates.
Scott was brought in to put out a fire in the eighth inning and did just that, and he stayed on for the ninth to lock down the save, his seventh of the season and first since June 2. It's been a bit of a bumpy stretch for him -- this was the first time he hadn't allowed a baserunner since May 29 versus the Phillies. He's given up five runs over his last 5.1 innings, though he hasn't walked a batter in that stretch. Scott is at a 2.48 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 35:3 K:BB through 29 innings. He's added five holds and continues to be the Dodgers' top option for high-leverage moments.

Scott has been Los Angeles' primary closer since Edwin Diaz (elbow) landed on the injured list April 20, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts elected to call on Scott in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday. The lefty's entrance came at a critical moment, as the Padres had put runners on first and second with two outs in a 4-4 game. Scott got Ramon Laureano to fly out to end the threat and then worked around a two-out walk to retire the side in the eighth. He moved in line for the victory when Los Angeles plated a run in the top of the ninth, and Will Klein got the final three outs in the bottom of that inning for his first career save. Scott's usage Tuesday shouldn't be viewed as an indication that he's not the Dodgers' first choice as closer, though it does suggest that Roberts isn't against using him in earlier high-leverage spots if the situation calls for it.
