Angels' Steven Duggar: Joins Halos organization
The Angels claimed Duggar off waivers from the Rangers on Sunday.
Since Duggar was playing with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate prior to being designated for assignment Thursday, he won't immediately have to go on the Angels' 26-man active roster. That being said, Duggar looks primed to receive a call-up ahead of the Angels' series opener in Oakland on Monday, when Mickey Moniak is expected to go on the injured list with a broken left middle finger, an injury that could keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. Duggar, who owns a .240/.296/.373 slash line in 824 career MLB plate appearances with the Giants and Rangers, could challenge Magneuris Sierra for the everyday role in center field while Moniak is out and while Mike Trout (rib cage) remains unable to play.

It's not yet clear whether he'll remain in the organization if he clears waivers.

Rangers' Steven Duggar: Makes first start as Ranger
Duggar started in center field and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and was caught stealing in Tuesday's 8-3 win over Kansas City.
Duggar, who was acquired from the Giants last week, made his first start in a Texas uniform. He eventually shifted to left field when Brad Miller moved to third base to cover for the injured Josh H. Smith (calf). The lefty hitter could share center field with Leody Taveras, a switch hitter that's batting .194 against righties, or fill in for Miller on an as-needed basis.

Rangers' Steven Duggar: Activated from IL after trade
The Rangers activated Duggar (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Thursday after acquiring him from the Giants in exchange for outfielder Willie Calhoun and cash considerations.
To clear room for Duggar on the 40-man roster, Texas designated reliever Spencer Patton for assignment. Prior to the trade, the 28-year-old outfielder hadn't played for the Giants since April 21 after being shut down with a left oblique strain, but he's back to full health again after turning in a .550 OPS over his 14-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento. Duggar may have to initially settle for a reserve role in the Texas outfield, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Rangers gave him a look as their primary option in center field at some point.

Rangers' Steven Duggar: Traded to Texas
The Rangers acquired Duggar (oblique) from the Giants on Thursday in exchange for Willie Calhoun and cash considerations, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Duggar played in just 12 games this year before hitting the 60-day injured list with a left oblique strain. He'd spent the maximum amount of time on his rehab assignment, struggling to a .550 OPS in 14 games, so the Giants had to make a decision on his future. That decision turned out to be a trade rather than a return to the active roster, though he'll presumably join the Rangers' big-league squad shortly. Duggar gives his new team a good glove in center field but hasn't done much at the plate across parts of five seasons in the majors, hitting a modest .242/.297/.377. That may leave him stuck as the fourth outfielder in Texas, though beating out Leody Taveras for at-bats may not be particularly difficult.

Giants' Steven Duggar: Nearing rehab assignment
Duggar (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment June 2, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Duggar landed on the 60-day injured list with a left oblique strain in late April, and his recovery process was slowed when he tested positive for COVID-19 a week after he was placed on the IL. The 28-year-old isn't eligible to be activated until late June, so he'll presumably appear in minor-league games for several weeks prior to rejoining the Giants.

Duggar, who is on the 60-day injured list with an oblique strain, tested positive for COVID-19, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Giants' Steven Duggar: Heading to 60-day IL
Duggar was placed on the 60-day injured list Friday with a left oblique strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
The 28-year-old suffered the oblique strain during Thursday's game against the Mets and will now be sidelined for at least the next two months. Austin Slater and Mauricio Dubon should see increased reps in center field during Duggar's absence, and Heliot Ramos or Luke Williams could be promoted to provide depth.
