  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Busy in lopsided win

Tovar went 3-for-6 with two doubles, three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's 14-5 win over Toronto.

The shortstop put his fingerprints all over this one, even flashing the leather on an outstanding throw to first base to put out Vladimir Guerrero in the first inning. Tovar has hit safely in each of his first four games of the season, batting cleanup in all of his appearances so far. Tovar posted an .885 OPS at home last year as opposed to a .514 OPS on the road, so he'll likely be a more attractive fantasy option when he gets to perform at Coors Field.

Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday against the Marlins.

Tovar pulled an offering from Eury Perez over the left-field fence in the fourth inning for his first home run of the season. He's hit cleanup in each of Colorado's first two games, collecting two hits in eight plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Simplifying swing

Tovar worked on shedding weight and simplifying his swing this offseason, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Tovar was limited to 95 games in 2025, in part due to an oblique strain. He attributed that injury to overly complicated swing mechanics and playing at slightly above his preferred weight. Tovar shed seven pounds during the offseason and simplified his swing in an effort to bounce back in 2026. He's gone 3-for-14 this spring, but has struck out only twice, and he is also representing Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Provides offense in loss

Tovar went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Giants.

Tovar got the Rockies on the board with a fifth-inning homer, but that was their only scoring play of the game. This was his first long ball in nearly a month -- his last came Aug. 28 versus the Astros, and he hit a modest .233 (20-for-86) with just two doubles and seven RBI over the 25 games between homers. The shortstop is up to nine homers, 33 RBI, 44 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .256/.299/.402 slash line over 93 contests this season.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Knocks in two

Tovar went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Tuesday against the Mariners.

Tovar went through a six-game hitless streak in mid-September, but he's followed that by collecting at least one hit in six of his last eight starts. He delivered a two-RBI single in the sixth inning of Tuesday's contest, giving him four RBI in that same eight-game span. Tovar is wrapping up a disappointing season, posting only 29 extra-base hits and a .141 ISO across 370 plate appearances.

Tovar went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Padres.

Tovar entered Sunday's game hitless in his last six starts -- all of which came on the road -- while also striking out 12 times across 19 at-bats in that span. He ended that stretch with a single in the sixth inning and then delivered an RBI double one frame later. Tovar is still hitting .250 since Sept. 1 and now has three RBI and five runs scored with a stolen base in that 13-game span.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Rips three hits in loss

Tovar went 3-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Padres.

Tovar's got a hot bat -- he's logged four multi-hit efforts while going 12-for-33 (.364) over his last nine games. While he's posted just two extra-base hits and two RBI in that span, the consistency at the plate is encouraging, though most of the hot streak has come at home. He's up to a .272/.314/.434 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 39 runs scored and four stolen bases over 75 contests. Like many Rockies hitters, he's had some extreme home-road splits this year with a .947 OPS at Coors Field and a .532 OPS away from home.
