Royals' Tyler Gentry: Sent to Triple-A
The Royals optioned Gentry to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Gentry was recalled by Kansas City last weekend and went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in his first three big-league games. He'll head back to the minors since the Royals acquired veterans Tommy Pham, Robbie Grossman and Yuli Gurriel.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Promoted Sunday
The Royals recalled Gentry from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
The 25-year-old will join the Royals for his first taste of the big leagues as Hunter Renfroe heads to the injured list due to a hamstring strain. Gentry has a .251/.341/.423 slash line with 13 homers and six steals in 105 games with Omaha this season, and he could see some opportunities against left-handed pitching while Renfroe is sidelined.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Sent to minor-league camp
The Royals optioned Gentry to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Gentry was added to Kansas City's 40-man roster in November in order to protect him from being selected during the Rule 5 Draft, but he was never a likely bet to make the Opening Day roster. The 25-year-old spent last season at Omaha and had a .253/.370/.421 slash line with 16 homers and 14 steals in 129 games, and there's a decent chance he makes his MLB debut at some point in 2024.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Gets spot on 40-man
The Royals selected Gentry to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
A third-round selection in the 2020 MLB Draft out of the University of Alabama, Gentry batted .253/.370/.421 with 16 homers and 14 steals over 129 games this past season for Triple-A Omaha. He is now protected from next month's Rule 5 Draft.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Reassigned to minor-league camp
The Royals reassigned Gentry to minor-league camp Tuesday.
Gentry enjoyed a breakout season in the minors last season, slashing .321/.417/.555 over 331 plate appearances upon joining Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The 24-year-old outfielder struggled this spring, so it's clear there's still work to be done before he can contribute in the majors. The Royals could send him back to Double-A, but he will likely be promoted to Triple-A Omaha for the start of 2023.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Enjoys breakout 2022
Gentry hit .326/.422/.542 with 21 homers, 10 steals, 86 RBI, 79 runs and a 60:105 BB:K over 108 games split between High-A Quad Cities and Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season.
The 23-year-old outfielder was a little old for High-A, so it made sense to take his .950 OPS there with a grain of salt, but he was even better against more age-appropriate competition in Double-A, putting up a .972 figure. A third-round pick out of the University of Alabama in 2020, Gentry followed up a decent but injury-abbreviated 2021 campaign with a breakout this season. A big, strong hitter who probably fits best in right field, Gentry may force his way into the Royals' outfield conversation as soon as the middle of next season. Sleep on him at your own risk.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Earns weekly honors
Gentry was named the Texas League Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Gentry hit .435 with four homers, 11 RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles in his last six games. He's had no trouble adjusting to Double-A pitching so far -- the outfield prospect is slashing .311/.389/.721 in 16 contests since he was promoted from High-A Quad Cities on June 14. He'll likely close out the year at Northwest Arkansas, but he's already tearing through the minors in his second year of affiliated ball on the strength of his hitting.

Royals' Tyler Gentry: Climbs to Double-A
The Royals promoted Gentry from High-A Quad Cities to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Gentry received the call to Double-A after he slashed an impressive .333/.434/.516 with a 13.5 percent walk rate in 152 plate appearances during his second tour of the High-A level. The 23-year-old is regarded as a shaky defender in the corner outfield, so being able to consistently hit for power and drawing walks at a steady clip will likely be the key to him advancing through the Kansas City farm system.
