Astros' Blair Henley: Clears waivers, headed to Triple-A
Henley cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Henley was designated for assignment Sunday, but he'll now return to Houston's Triple-A affiliate after not being claimed by another team. The 27-year-old appeared in just one game with Houston this year, giving up five earned runs in one-third of an inning. At Sugar Land, he's logged a 4.35 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 54:37 K:BB across 60 innings this season.

Astros' Blair Henley: Returning to minors
Henley was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land following Monday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Astros' Blair Henley: Chased in first inning
Henley allowed five runs on four hits and three walks but did not factor in the decision Monday. He recorded just one out in the win over Houston.
Henley was given a rude welcome in the MLB debut; he put seven straight Rangers on base before finally recording an out. Fortunately for him, Houston's offense racked up 10 runs to prevent him from getting the loss. Henley will likely head back to the minors after Monday's spot start.

Astros' Blair Henley: Contract selected for MLB debut
The Astros selected Henley's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land, and he's scheduled to start Monday against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
It remains unclear why Framber Valdez was scratched from his start Monday, but it will give Henley the chance to make his MLB debut. Henley spent last season at Double-A Corpus Christi and had a 5.06 ERA over 106.1 innings, and he allowed two earned runs with a 6:4 K:BB in five frames during his lone outing for Sugar Land this season. The 26-year-old righty doesn't have significant prospect pedigree and is facing one of the best lineups is baseball, so he shouldn't be on the streaming radar.

Astros' Blair Henley: Slated for major-league debut
Henley will be called up to make his major-league debut Monday against the Rangers, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Framber Valdez had been slated to take the ball, but the Astros will go with Henley instead with what looks to be a spot start. Henley, 26, allowed three runs over five innings in his first start with Triple-A Sugar Land this season. He posted a 5.06 ERA and 106:53 K:BB across 106.2 frames in 2023 at Double-A Corpus Christi. Henley is not a desirable streaming option.
