  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: X-rays negative on foot

Chourio (hand) had X-rays come back negative after fouling a pitch off his foot during his rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Chourio's removal from the contest was labeled a precautionary move, but the Brewers wanted to make sure and sent him for X-rays. The 22-year-old was expected to finish up his rehab assignment this weekend and rejoin the big club in St. Louis this week, but that plan may now depend on how his foot feels over the next couple days.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Removed for precautionary reasons

Chourio (hand/foot) was removed from Saturday's rehab game with Triple-A Nashville for precautionary reasons, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Chourio played in his third rehab contest Saturday and fouled a ball off his foot in the third inning before being removed from the game in the fourth. It sounds like he avoided any sort of injury as he trends toward activation from the 10-day injured list next week, perhaps as soon as Monday against the Cardinals.

He stayed in the game to finish his plate appearance but was replaced in the fourth, and he'll undergo further tests on his foot. Chourio is in Triple-A on a rehab assignment as part of his recovery from left hamate bone surgery that landed him on the 10-day injured list before the start of the regular season.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Hitting on field Wednesday

Chourio (hand) will hit on the field Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

It will be the first time Chourio has hit on the field since he landed on the 10-day injured list before the season following left hamate bone surgery. • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Likely out until May

Chourio's estimated return from a fracture in his left hand has been pushed back into early May, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 22-year-old's fractured hand has been showing signs of healing, but he hadn't been cleared to resume hitting as of late last week. Chourio landed on the shelf just before Opening Day and was given an initial return timeline of 2-to-4 weeks, but it appears his absence will be extending beyond that. Milwaukee's outfield depth is being tested early this season, with Christian Yelich (groin) also landing on the injured list.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Still not cleared to hit

Chourio's fractured hand is showing signs of healing, but he still isn't cleared to resume hitting, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Chourio was hit on the hand while playing in an exhibition with Team Venezuela back on March 4. Originally expected to be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks, Chourio suffered the injury more than five weeks ago and still can't swing a bat. He's likely to need a rehab assignment once he's cleared to resume full baseball activities. Blake Perkins, Brandon Lockridge and Jake Bauers have been seeing extra playing time while Chourio has been sidelined.
