Jobe was previously capped at throwing from 90 feet three times per week, so this is a small step, but he still has a long way to go in his recovery from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last June. The 23-year-old righty might be able to return near the end of the 2026 regular season, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Tigers play things safe and keep Jobe on the shelf until 2027.

Jobe worked through three scoreless innings before the Blue Jays plated a pair of runs in the fourth. It was his second quality start of the year and first since April 12 in Minnesota. Jobe tossed 52 of 90 pitches for strikes and generated 12 whiffs. He produced 14 in his last outing, which was the first time he hit double-digits in his MLB career. Jobe now owns a 4.12 ERA with a 32:22 K:BB through eight starts. He's projected to face Cleveland at home for his next outing.

  Jobe allowed six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday. Jobe was initially slated to start Tuesday, but his outing was pushed back one day due to a rainout. The rookie right-hander got off on the wrong foot against Colorado when Ryan McMahon tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning, and Jobe gave up another two-run shot -- this time to Michael Toglia -- in the third. He was allowed to pitched into the fourth frame but got the hook after giving up another run on two hits in that inning. Jobe hadn't given up more than three runs in a start this season prior to Wednesday, so this was easily his worst appearance of the campaign. Making his first start since April 18, Jobe allowed a leadoff homer to Jeremy Pena in the opening frame but followed up with three straight scoreless innings. The right-hander returned for the fifth but was pulled after giving up a walk, a single and a two-run double to the first three batters he faced. The extended break between starts wasn't due to any sort of injury, but rather, an attempt to build in some extra rest for the 22-year-old rookie. Jobe has now issued three-plus walks in three of his five starts this year, though his overall line is still decent with a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 18:14 K:BB across 24 innings.

Back-to-back doubles from Bobby Witt and Vinnie Pasquantino in the first inning put Jobe in an early 1-0 hole, but he only allowed another three hits over the next four frames while his offense helped him out by putting up five runs on Royals ace Cole Ragans. After a rough start to the season, the 22-year-old Jobe has now allowed one run over 11 innings while collecting back-to-back wins across his last two starts. He'll have plenty of momentum heading into his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for next Friday against Baltimore.

The 22-year-old righty is hoping to make use of a six-pitch repertoire during the upcoming season, as he was already throwing a four-seam fastball, a cutter, a changeup and a sweeper. Though he reached the big leagues in September and earned a spot in the Tigers' postseason bullpen, Jobe saw his strikeout rate fall to 25.6 percent over 91.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2024, down all the way from 32.6 percent during the 2023 season. Jobe noted he particularly struggled with missing bats on two-strike counts, and he's hoping that adding more diversity to his arsenal will aid him in putting more batters away. After making his MLB debut as a reliever, Jobe will get the chance to compete for a rotation spot with Detroit in spring training and is expecting to throw at least 130 innings in his rookie campaign.
