The Athletics selected Cusick's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cusick didn't have a great 2024 season, posting a 4.90 ERA and 65:37 K:BB over 60.2 frames between Double-A Midland and Las Vegas. The 25-year-old did pitch better after being moved to the bullpen in the second half (2.78 ERA, 35:18 K:BB in 32.1 innings), and it would appear his future is as a reliever.

Athletics' Ryan Cusick: Moved in Olson deal
Rotowire
Cusick was traded from Atlanta to Oakland along with Shea Langeliers, Cristian Pache and Joey Estes in exchange for Matt Olson on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
A big 6-foot-6 righty whom Atlanta selected with the No. 24 overall pick in last year's draft, Cusick comes with some bullpen risk, but it's hard to overlook the fact that he struck out over 50 percent of the batters he faced in 16.1 innings at Low-A. He may take longer to reach the majors now that he is on a rebuilding club that can be patient with his development.
