  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Idle Thursday

Mack isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle. Mack will catch a breather Thursday after going 0-for-6 with a walk during the first two games of the series. Liam Hicks will fill in as Miami's catcher, allowing Heriberto Hernandez to serve as the designated hitter.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Sitting Friday

Mack isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics. Mack will get a chance to rest during Friday's series opener after going 3-for-12 with two homers and four RBI during Miami's four-game set in Colorado. Liam Hicks will start behind the plate with Mack on the bench, moving Owen Caissie into the DH spot and allowing Heriberto Hernandez to start in the outfield.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Idle Wednesday

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Getting rest Sunday

Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Mack went 1-for-7 with a walk and two runs while starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series. He'll be given a breather for the finale in St. Louis, clearing the way for Brian Navarreto to make a start at catcher.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Getting breather Wednesday

Mack is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. He'll receive a well-earned day of rest after starting at catcher in each of the last six contests. Brian Navarreto will grab a start behind the plate in Wednesday's matinee while Mack gets a breather.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Goes yard again Wednesday

Mack went 2-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Phillies. The rookie catcher took Tanner Banks deep in the sixth inning, one of five Miami homers in as 12-4 rout. Mack has gone yard twice in his last three games, and through 12 contests in June, he's slashing .361/.452/.667 with two doubles, three home runs, eight runs and 10 RBI as he solidifies his spot as the team's catcher of both the present and the future.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Riding pine Saturday

Mack isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates. Mack will step out of the lineup Saturday after going 0-for-6 with a walk and two strikeouts across his last two games. Liam Hicks will move behind the plate as a result, putting Otto Lopez in the DH spot and giving Leo Jimenez a start at third base.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Scores three times in four-hit game

Mack went 4-for-4 with three runs Tuesday in the Marlins' 10-6 win over the Diamondbacks. With a .203 batting average, the rookie catcher was barely sitting above the Mendoza Line for the season at the end of May, but his bat has begun to heat up in June. Through seven games on the month, Mack has gone 9-for-23 with a home run and a double, lifting his season average up by 50 points in the process. Mack is still expected to provide most of his value to the Marlins through his defense behind the plate, but he offers a bit of pop and should play frequently enough to make for a viable lineup option in fantasy leagues that start two catchers.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Cracks first major-league homer

Mack went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI during the Marlins' 7-3 win over the Nationals on Tuesday. Both teams failed to score through the first four innings of Tuesday's game, but Mack quickly changed that with a two-run homer off Miles Mikolas in the fifth inning, which was followed up by consecutive solo homers from Heriberto Hernandez and Otto Lopez. It was the first home run of Mack's major-league career, and he gave the Marlins an insurance run in the ninth with a sacrifice bunt that brought Liam Hicks home. Mack is slashing .214/.257/.300 with nine RBI, four extra-base hits and eight runs scored across 76 plate appearances since being called up from Triple-A Jacksonville in early May.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Taking seat Sunday

Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets. The Marlins will give Mack a break for Sunday's matinee after he started behind the plate in each of the team's previous three games. In Mack's stead, Liam Hicks will receive a turn behind the dish and will form a battery with starting pitcher Tyler Phillips.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Taking seat Sunday

Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Liam Hicks is stepping behind the plate in the series finale while Christopher Morel picks up a start at first base.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Collects first big-league hits

Mack went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles. A third-inning single by the rookie catcher brought home Kyle Stowers, giving Mack his first hit and RBI in MLB, and he added another knock in the eighth. The 23-year-old top prospect will get a long look in the starting role from the Marlins, with Liam Hicks -- who got the start at first base Tuesday before taking over behind the plate for the top of the ninth after Mack was lifted for a pinch runner -- seeing more of his playing time at 1B and DH as a result.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Hitless in MLB debut

Mack went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Monday's loss to the Phillies. Making his big-league debut and batting seventh, Mack was fanned by Aaron Nola in the fifth inning, between a groundout and a pop-up in foul territory. On the bright side, the rookie catcher guided Janson Junk to a strong outing in a 1-0 loss, and it's his defensive work rather than his bat that the Marlins are counting on to be an upgrade over Agustin Ramirez. While he'll split time behind the plate with Liam Hicks, Mack will get a long runway to establish himself at the top level after slashing .251/.336/.447 over 122 career games in Triple-A with 21 homers.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Day-to-day with stiff neck

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Mack is dealing with a stiff neck but should return to the Grapefruit League lineup in a couple days, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. McCullough noted that if it were the regular season, Mack would most likely play through the injury. Mack has appeared in seven games this spring for Miami, going 3-for-18 with one home run at the dish. He's third on the Marlins' catching depth chart and will begin the season at Triple-A Jacksonville, barring an injury to Agustin Ramirez or Liam Hicks.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Having huge finish to year

Mack went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. The 22-year-old backstop walked it off for the Jumbo Shrimp in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving Mack his 20th homer of the year between Double-A and Triple-A. He's gone yard in four straight games, and over his last 12 contests for Jacksonville he's slashing .325/.383/.950 with 10 of his 13 hits (two doubles, a triple and seven homers) going for extra bases. The presence of Agustin Ramirez ahead of him on the organizational depth chart complicates his timeline, but Mack appears ready to make his big-league debut in 2026, and he could be competing for a 26-man roster spot in spring training.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Waking up at Triple-A

Mack went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a stolen base Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville. His contributions didn't end with his bat -- the catcher also guided four Jumbo Shrimp pitchers to a combined no-hitter and 14 strikeouts over nine innings. Mack appears to be finding his groove again after a month-long slump from late May into June that saw him slash .133/.216/.173 with a 29.5 percent strikeout rate in 88 plate appearances. Over his last four games, he's gone 9-for-18 with a double and two homers. With Agustin Ramirez leading a trio of backstops on the big-league roster, the Marlins have the luxury of not rushing Mack to the majors, but he could be ready to contribute in Miami later on this season.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Overcomes hamstring strain

Mack (hamstring) has gone 3-for-15 with 10 walks, two RBI and two runs in six games since being reinstated from Single-A Jupiter's 7-day injured list July 22. Mack was on the shelf for nearly two months due to the hamstring strain before returning to action for the Marlins' Single-A affiliate. The 19-year-old catching prospect has shown a hyper-patient approach at the plate since being activated, and his combination of high on-base percentages and burgeoning pop could make him an interesting fantasy option down the road, especially if he's able to stick behind the plate.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Dealing with hamstring strain

Mack is dealing with a hamstring strain and is expected to miss approximately 4-6 weeks, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports. Mack has appeared in just four games this year while battling a hamstring issue, and he'll focus on his rehab process after being diagnosed with a strain. The 19-year-old will presumably attempt to return to game action sometime in late July or early August.
