Nationals' Joey Wiemer: Claimed by Nationals
The Nationals claimed Wiemer off waivers from the Giants on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
It's the third organization Wiemer has been in since November and fourth since August. The 26-year-old slashed .236/.279/.436 with a 2:23 BB:K over 27 contests for the Marlins in 2025. Wiemer is out of minor-league options, so he should have a good chance to make the Nationals' Opening Day roster in a reserve role.

Giants' Joey Wiemer: DFA'd by Giants
The Giants designated Wiemer for assignment Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
After being DFA'd by the Marlins in November and landing in San Francisco via trade, Wiemer will now go through the waiver process for the second time in as many months. His subtraction from the 40-man roster will create room for Jason Foley, who signed with the Giants on Tuesday.

Giants' Joey Wiemer: Lands in San Francisco
The Giants acquired Wiemer from the Marlins on Friday in exchange for cash considerations, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Wiemer had been designated for assignment by Miami earlier this week and is now on the move to a new organization. The 26-year-old hasn't seen extensive action in the majors since his rookie year in 2023, having bounced around to a few teams since then. Wiemer will compete for a spot on the Giants' roster and does not have minor-league options remaining.

The 26-year-old had a .715 OPS in 27 games for Miami in 2025 but will lose his place on the 40-man roster in order to create roster space ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. Weimer could be outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville or elect to refuse the assignment and become a free agent.

The Marlins optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Wiemer will give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. After being recalled from Jacksonville on Aug. 17, Wiemer was used primarily as a short-side platoon outfielder and late-inning defensive replacement. He produced a .250/.293/.462 slash line with three home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs over 58 plate appearances.

Wiemer went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Nationals.
The 26-year-old outfielder took Mitchell Parker deep in the fifth inning, giving Wiemer his first homer in the majors this season. Through eight games since joining the Marlins' roster, he's batting .259 (7-for-27) with six RBI, but a 0:14 BB:K offers little reassurance that he'll remain productive.

Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Called up, starting Sunday
The Marlins recalled Wiemer from Triple-A Jacksonville, and he'll start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Miami brought Wiemer aboard as a replacement for Kyle Stowers (oblique), who was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. With Stowers expected to miss several weeks while recovering from a Grade 1 strain, the team seems likely to lean on a committee to replace him. The right-handed-hitting Wiemer will crack the lineup Sunday against southpaw Garrett Crochet, but he could find playing time more difficult to come by against right-handed pitching. A skilled defender, Wiemer is capable of playing all three outfield spots, but he's struggled to a .203/.315/.357 slash line across 82 games with two Triple-A clubs this season.

Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Headed to majors
The Marlins will recall Wiemer from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Sunday's game in Boston, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
The move isn't official, but Wiemer will come up to replace Kyle Stowers (oblique), who is headed to the 10-day injured list. The righty-hitting Wiemer has batted .375 with two home runs, one steal and a 7:7 K:BB in 40 plate appearances at Jacksonville since the Marlins claimed him off waivers Aug. 4. The Marlins will have a handful of outfielders vying for work with Stowers set to miss multiple weeks, but Wiemer could provide power and speed in the short term if he takes command of a regular spot in the lineup.

The Reds traded Wiemer and Jonathan India to the Royals on Friday in exchange for Brady Singer.
Wiemer went just 4-for-26 with nine strikeouts in 21 big-league games played between Milwaukee and Cincinnati last season. His performance in the minors wasn't great either, as he slashed .189/.277/.226 in 119 plate appearances with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate after being traded at the deadline. Once regarded as a top prospect in the Brewers' farm system, the 25-year-old Wiemer will look to turn things around with the Royals, though he will likely report to Triple-A Omaha.

Acquired Monday as part of the deal that sent right-hander Frankie Montas to Milwaukee, Wiemer will get the chance to make his Reds debut as he joins the team ahead of its series finale with the Giants. Wiemer likely won't be in line for a long-term stay in Cincinnati, however, as fellow outfielder Will Benson (personal) was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move and will be away from the team for only 1-to-3 games.
