  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers in consecutive games

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Goodman's power surge continues -- he's homered in back-to-back games and has swatted five long balls over his last seven contests. He's also gone 7-for-24 (.292) in that span, a significant improvement over his .192 batting average for the year. Goodman is up to 13 homers, 34 RBI, 23 runs scored and a .663 OPS through 206 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Smacks 12th homer

Goodman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Goodman came up big with a game-tying home run off Kevin Ginkel in the seventh inning. The 24-year-old catcher has started six of the Rockies last eight games and has four homers over that stretch. Goodman has been a pleasant surprise in the power department with 12 homers in 64 games this season, but he lacks in other categories as he's hitting just .190 with a .651 OPS.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Getting rest Sunday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. Goodman will take a seat for the series finale after he started behind the dish Friday and Saturday. Even though he's unlikely to be used Sunday, Goodman paid huge dividends for fantasy managers that streamed him this weekend, as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI in Friday's 9-5 win. The Rockies have been running a three-man committee at catcher lately with Goodman, Jacob Stallings and Drew Romo, but Goodman's ability to play first base, corner outfield and designated hitter in addition to working behind the plate should enable him to handle a near-everyday role down the stretch.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Career-high seven RBI in win

Goodman went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI in Friday's 9-5 win over the Cubs. The 24-year-old took Javier Assad deep in the second inning for a two-run blast before breaking open a 5-5 tie with a grand slam off Nate Pearson in the eighth. Per Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com, Goodman is the second-youngest player in Rockies history to record seven or more RBI in a game -- Troy Tulowitzki was about a month younger in 2009 when he accomplished the feat. Goodman has been seeing consistent playing time in September, mainly behind the plate, and he's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three of his 11 homers and eight of his 32 RBI on the season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Goodman will hit the bench after he started both of the previous two games at catcher, going 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk. Drew Romo will get a turn behind the dish Wednesday, and the Rockies also have a third catcher on the 28-man active roster in Jacob Stallings. With that in mind, the Rockies could treat the catcher spot as a three-man committee rather than relying heavily on Goodman down the stretch.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Another start at catcher

Goodman will start at catcher and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Tigers. It's his second straight start at catcher and his third start at the position over the last five contests. Seemingly, the Rockies want to find out if Goodman -- who has primarily been an outfielder during his time in the majors -- can be a legitimate option at catcher moving forward.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Back with big club

The Rockies recalled Goodman from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Orioles. He came off the bench and struck out in his lone pinch-hit appearance. While he's up with the big club, Goodman will provide the Rockies with a third catcher as well as a potential platoon mate in the corner outfield or at designated hitter for left-handed-hitting regulars Nolan Jones and Charlie Blackmon. Goodman is batting just .176 with eight home runs and a 29.4 percent strikeout rate in the majors this season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Headed back to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Goodman to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. The move clears a spot on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Nolan Jones (back), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Goodman has been with the big club since late April, but he's seen his playing time decrease since the All-Star break. Over 169 total plate appearances in the big leagues on the season, Goodman has slashed .177/.219/.373 with eight home runs, 24 RBI and a 29 percent strikeout rate.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Moving back to bench Wednesday

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Goodman started each of the last four games -- two at designated hitter, two at catcher -- and went 6-for-17 with three home runs and one double, but he hasn't quite seized hold of an everyday role just yet. Jacob Stallings remains the Rockies' No. 1 catcher while Elias Diaz (calf) is on the shelf, and Charlie Blackmon and Elehuris Montero are also expected to factor into the mix at DH until Kris Bryant (oblique) returns from the injured list. Goodman may need to turn in a few more quality performances at the plate in his subsequent starts before the Rockies make him a fixture in the lineup.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Swats another homer

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday in a loss to the Dodgers. Goodman made his second straight start at DH and belted a two-run blast in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old slugged two homers two days earlier while making a start at catcher. Goodman is still slashing just .195/.235/.455 of the season, but he's shown promising power with five long balls over 81 plate appearances. He'd become much more intriguing from a fantasy perspective if he logs enough games behind the plate to earn positional eligibility there.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Starting at catcher Saturday

Goodman will catch and bat eighth Saturday against Pittsburgh. Goodman will draw the start behind the plate Saturday in a role he's expected to split with Jacob Stallings for the duration of Elias Diaz's (calf) absence. Goodman is slashing .156/.206/.313 with two home runs in 68 plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting after three straight starts

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds. With Kris Bryant day-to-day with a back injury, playing time has opened up of late for Goodman, but the latter hasn't been able to take advantage of the opportunity. While starting in each of the last three games, Goodman went 0-for-9 with three strikeouts and will now move to the bench for Wednesday's series finale even though Bryant remains out of the lineup.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Gaining foothold in lineup

Goodman will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter and No. 7 batter in Thursday's game against the Athletics. Goodman will make his fourth start in five games -- and his third at DH -- after going 4-for-12 with two doubles, an RBI, a run and a stolen base across his prior three contests. His inclusion in the lineup Thursday comes while the Rockies are resting four key regulars (Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon, Elias Diaz and Brendan Rodgers), but Goodman's recent usage suggests that he'll be a priority in the lineup over Elehuris Montero, who didn't start either of the past two days following Bryant's return from the injured list.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: First appearance as catcher

Goodman went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Giants. Goodman has primarily been a bench bat for Colorado since being promoted April 24, though he made his first career start and appearance at catcher in Saturday's game. Elias Diaz (hand) remains out, which is giving Goodman the opportunity to back up Jacob Stallings. The injury to Diaz isn't projected to keep him out in the long term, so Goodman may not have enough time to gain catcher eligibility, though he would become an intriguing option behind the dish if Diaz remains sidelined longer than anticipated.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sent to minor-league camp

The Rockies optioned Goodman to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The 24-year-old had a .633 OPS over 23 games in his first taste of the majors last season, and it appears he won't have a spot on the Opening Day roster this year. Goodman hit .371 with nine homers in 15 games after making his way to the Triple-A level last season, and he should receive another chance for Colorado before long if he gets off to a hot start in 2024.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Takes seat Thursday

Goodman is not in the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers. Goodman got off to a hot start when he initially joined the Rockies' major-league roster in late August, but he's gone 1-for-26 with 12 strikeouts over his last nine games. Sean Bouchard is in right field Thursday.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers in high-scoring loss

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI in Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Giants. Goodman got the Rockies on the board with a two-run blast to left center and then plated his third run of the game with a sacrifice fly. Each of Goodman's last four hits have all gone for extra bases; however, that's come over a span of eight games, as he hasn't been hitting the ball particularly well. With nothing to lose, it's possible the Rockies give Goodman a longer look over the final two weeks of the season, though he's recently seen his playing time dip. The 23-year-old is slashing .250/.290/.482 with eight extra-base hits, 17 RBI, six runs and a 4:15 BB:K in 62 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Remains productive

Goodman went 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored Friday against the Giants. Goodman lined a pitch to center field in the second inning to tally his second career triple. He also has at least one hit in eight of his first 10 games in the majors, including five extra-base hits across 31 at-bats. Given that success, it's little surprise that the Rockies have found Goodman regular playing time, split evenly between first base and the outfield.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Wraps up strong homestand

Goodman went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI on Sunday against the Blue Jays. Goodman has drawn six starts in seven games since being called up, and he drew his first look in the outfield Sunday. He's given the Rockies no reason to take him out of the lineup, as he's gone 8-for-21 with three doubles, a triple and six RBI in his first taste of the majors. He'll head away from hitter-friendly Coors Field for the first time in a matchup Monday against Arizona, but Goodman should continue to see regular playing time to close out the season.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Gets breather Saturday

Goodman isn't in the Rockies' lineup Saturday against Toronto, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Goodman will take a seat Saturday after starting his big-league career 6-for-18 with three RBI through five games. Elehuris Montero will draw the start at first base and bat eighth.
