  Crim (oblique) has been cleared for baseball activities Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. Crim has missed most of spring training with a strained oblique. The 29-year-old made his MLB debut last season, appearing in 20 games with the Rangers and Rockies and producing a .200/.270/.462 slash line with five home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored and a 6:28 BB:K across 74 trips to the plate.

• Rockies' Blaine Crim: Managing oblique strain

  Crim suffered an oblique strain during Monday's spring game, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Crim received his first taste of the big leagues in 2025 and had a .732 OPS in 20 games between the Rockies and Rangers. The severity of the strain has yet to be disclosed, but his availability for the start of the regular season is now in question.

  Crim went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Thursday's 9-7 loss to Miami. The rookie cleared the fence twice Thursday with each drive carrying more than 400 feet. Just a week after delivering his first big-league long ball, Crim now owns his first multi-homer performance only 11 games into his MLB career. Since being recalled last week, the 28-year-old has swung the bat well, posting a .261 average (6-for-23) with three homers, a double, seven RBI and four runs scored across his first six games with Colorado since making his MLB debut in May.

Crim has started consecutive games at first base due to Warming Bernabel (concussion) being sidelined and Michael Toglia demoted. Crim has made the most of his chances, knocking in five with a double and a home run across his two starts. He has hit sixth and fifth in the order and looks likely to get regular at-bats until Bernabel can return.

  Crim went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 4-2 win over San Diego. Making his Rockies debut, Crim got both his first major-league hit and homer courtesy of a fourth-inning jack. With Warming Bernabel (concussion) on the injured list, Crim has a chance to handle regular at-bats at first base in the interim. Crim has been very productive at the dish at the Triple-A level this season, slashing .281/.370/.494 with 21 big flies, 26 doubles and 85 RBI over 492 plate appearances.

  The Rockies recalled Crim from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports. Colorado claimed Crim off waivers in early August from Texas, and the first baseman has slashed .273/.360/.424 in 114 plate appearances with Albuquerque since. He'll make his Rockies debut if he gets into a game. Crim is expected to serve as the team's primary first baseman while Warming Bernabel (concussion) is sidelined. Michael Toglia was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

• Rockies' Blaine Crim: Lands in Colorado

  The Rockies claimed Crim off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. The 28-year-old Crim went 1-for-11 with one walk and six strikeouts during a brief stint in the big leagues with the Rangers back in May, but he had been raking at Triple-A Round Rock before Texas designated him for assignment Thursday. Over 378 plate appearances with Round Rock, Crim slashed .284/.373/.515 with 18 home runs and three stolen bases. Crim will stick around in the Pacific Coast League and link up with the Rockies' affiliate in Albuquerque, but he could receive another look in the majors before the end of the season if Colorado has a need for a short-side platoon first baseman or designated hitter.

  The Rangers optioned Crim to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Called up from Triple-A on May 2 after the struggling Jake Burger was demoted to Round Rock, Crim appeared in five games over his first stint in the big leagues and went 0-for-11 with one walk and six strikeouts. Burger, meanwhile, got on track at Round Rock with a 1.158 OPS over his six games, and the Rangers determined he was ready to replace Crim on the 26-man active roster. Crim should get a chance to play on an everyday basis as he returns to Triple-A.

After Texas optioned Jake Burger to the minors, there's an opportunity for someone to grab the first base job. Crim will be part of the mix. The 27-year-old has played 308 games at Round Rock since 2022 and is well past the point of being considered a prospect.

  Crim will have his contract selected by the Rangers on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Crim spent all of the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Triple-A Round Rock and posted .391 and .382 wOBAs, respectively. He doesn't have much prospect pedigree and isn't likely to be long for the majors as a replacement for Jake Burger, though Crim should see occasional playing time in the short term.
