Rockies' Jaden Hill: Added to roster
The Rockies selected Hill's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
Hill, a second-round pick in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, became a full-time reliever this season and has posted a 4.57 ERA and 69:17 K:BB over 45.1 innings between Double-A Hartford and Albuquerque. He has the potential to be a high-leverage reliever for the Rockies, but Hill will likely work in low-leverage spots initially. When/if he gets into a game, it will be Hill's major-league debut.

Rockies' Jaden Hill: Shifts to relief role
Hill has transitioned to a relief role for the Rockies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Hill was selected in the second round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft but did not make his debut until 2022 due to his recovery from Tommy John surgery. He worked as a starter thereafter and reached High-A Spokane in 2023, but the Rockies ultimately decided to shift him to a relief role during the Arizona Fall League. With a fastball that can touch triple digits, Hill has the potential to work in a high-leverage role at some point in his professional career.

He made seven starts for the Rockies' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate over the last month and posted a 3.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 10.1 innings, and he'll now progress to a higher level of competition.

Hill (elbow) threw live batting practice at the Rockies' spring training facility in mid-June, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
The Rockies selected Hill in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft, a few months after he underwent Tommy John surgery. Reports from his session were positive, as Hill is already able to sit in the mid-to-upper 90s with his fastball and is throwing both his off-speed and breaking pitches. Hill will start at the Arizona Complex League once activated from the injured list, and he'll be monitored carefully by the club.
