  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Optioned to Buffalo

The Blue Jays optioned Macko to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, reports Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Macko will make his way back down to Triple-A after being called up May 17. With the big-league club, the 25-year-old posted a 1.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 12 innings. Macko will be demoted to Buffalo in order to make room for Dylan Cease (hamstring) on the active roster.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Serving as Friday's opener

Macko will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher in Friday's contest in Baltimore, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. Macko hasn't gone more than 1.1 innings or thrown more than 20 pitches in six relief outings this season, so his appearance Friday will be brief. Former Oriole Austin Voth is a top candidate to work behind in Macko in a bulk-relief role, though Toronto hasn't confirmed its pitching plans once Macko exits the contest.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Credited with first MLB win

Macko (1-0) gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings of relief Thursday to record the win over the Yankees. Braydon Fisher worked 1.1 scoreless frames as the opener before passing the torch to Macko in what ended up being a 2-0 combined shutout for the Blue Jays staff. It was the 25-year-old southpaw's first win in his third MLB appearance, and through three innings Macko has yet to give up a run while posting a 3:0 K:BB.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Back in action at Buffalo

Macko (knee) has allowed four earned runs on four hits and seven walks while striking out eight over seven innings in two starts since being reinstated from Triple-A Buffalo's 7-day injured list June 7. The 24-year-old southpaw began the season on the IL while completing his recovery from knee surgery, but Macko still has plenty of rust to work off. He's issued at least three free passes in both his starts for Buffalo, and while he's currently on the same pitching schedule as the struggling Bowden Francis, Macko doesn't yet seem like a viable option for the big-league rotation.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Undergoes knee surgery

Macko underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Macko suffered the injury early on in camp and an operation had been expected. Blue Jays manager John Schneider was not able to offer a timetable for the lefty's return, but Macko would seem likely to miss at least the first month or so of the season. Once recovered, Macko is likely headed to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Shelved with forearm injury

Double-A New Hampshire placed Macko on its 7-day injured list Saturday with left forearm soreness, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. The injury cropped up during Macko's most recent start July 2 before New Hampshire opted to deactivate him a few days later. The 23-year-old lefty is rehabbing the injury, but if he's unable to make much progress in his recovery in the weeks to come, surgery could become a more distinct possibility. Macko had produced a 4.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 86:26 K:BB in 77.1 innings with New Hampshire before being shut down.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Pushing for promotion

Macko could get promoted to Triple-A Buffalo in the near future, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The 23-year-old southpaw, acquired from Seattle two offseasons ago, is having a strong campaign with Double-A New Hampshire thanks to improved control. He's found another gear over the last month, posting a 2.81 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 46:7 K:BB through his last six starts and 32 innings. Macko features a mid-90s fastball and a big curveball, but it's the development of his changeup and sweeper that will determine whether he can ultimately thrive in a big-league rotation.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Added to 40-man roster

The Blue Jays selected Macko to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Macko is now protected from selection in next month's Rule 5 Draft. The 22-year-old left-hander registered a 4.81 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 106:40 K:BB over 86 innings (20 starts) this past season with High-A Vancouver.

  • Blue Jays' Adam Macko: Dealt to Toronto

Macko (undisclosed) was a part of the package that the Mariners traded to the Blue Jays in return for Teoscar Hernandez on Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Macko will make his way to Toronto after spending the first three years of his career with the Mariners' organization following his selection in the seventh round of the 2019 Draft. The left-hander made eight starts with High-A Everett, compiling a 3.99 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 60 strikeouts over 38.1 innings. Macko is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury, but when healthy, he'll provide the Blue Jays with another potential long-term option in their rotation.

  • Mariners' Adam Macko: Sidelined at High-A

High-A Everett transferred Macko from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on July 23 while he continues to deal with an unspecified injury. The Mariners haven't acknowledged the nature of Macko's injury, but he hasn't pitched for Everett since May 21 and is without a clear timeline for a return. Before hitting the shelf, the 21-year-old lefty turned in a 3.99 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 60:20 K:BB over 38.1 innings.
