Giants' Trevor Oaks: Added to 60-man pool
Oaks made the Giants' 60-man roster.
He lost his spot on the 40-man roster this past offseason but will have a chance to offer bullpen depth in this condensed season. Oaks had a lost 2019 season due to a hip injury but has been adept at generating groundballs in the high levels of the minors in previous seasons.

Giants' Trevor Oaks: Outrighted to minors
Oaks cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
A player who missed all of 2019 due to a hip injury and who has just 13.2 big-league innings under his belt understandably wasn't a hot commodity on the waiver wire. Oaks isn't likely to play a significant role for the Giants this season.

Giants' Trevor Oaks: DFA'd by Giants
Oaks was designated for assignment by the Giants on Thursday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Oaks will be removed from the Giants' 40-man roster after being claimed by the team in November. The right-hander made his major-league debut with the Royals in 2018, posting a 7.24 ERA and 1.98 WHIP over 13.2 innings before missing the entire 2019 campaign with a hip injury. The 26-year-old was able to pitch in the Arizona Fall League and should be ready for the start of spring training.

The Giants claimed Oaks off waivers from the Royals on Tuesday.
Oaks was designated for assignment by the Royals on Oct. 29 after missing all of 2019 with a hip injury, and he'll now report to San Francisco heading into 2020. The 26-year-old has been effective at Triple-A, recording a 3.23 ERA over 128.1 innings in 2018, but he struggled in his only major-league action, amassing a 7.24 ERA with a 10:6 K:BB in four appearances (two starts).

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Designated for assignment
Oaks (hip) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Oaks underwent hip surgery in early March and was sidelined all season. He was able to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, allowing six earned runs in 12 innings, so it looks like he'll be good to go for the start of the 2020 season.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Lands on 60-day IL
The Royals placed Oaks (hip) on the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Undergoes hip surgery
Oaks underwent hip surgery Thursday and hopes to resume baseball activities in four months, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
The procedure ended up being more extensive than originally expected, and while that timeline would allow him to return during the season, hip injuries are often pretty tough to bounce back from quickly. Oaks was likely ticketed for the Triple-A rotation, and will head there once he completes a rehab assignment later this summer.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Could need hip surgery
Oaks has been shut down with a right hip injury and may require surgery, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Oaks will receive a second opinion in early March. If surgery is required, he would be out for at least the first half of the season. The hip issue reportedly affected him last season, leading to a decrease in velocity. It had gone away over the offseason but reappeared early in spring.

Oaks will take the mound for his second start and fourth appearance of the year with the Royals. Across 9.2 innings with the team, he's logged a 7.45 ERA and 2.17 WHIP, though he's fared well at the Triple-A level (2.00 ERA over 13 starts). He will have a tough assignment against the Indians' offense.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Takes loss in spot start
Oaks (0-2) allowed three runs on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts through just four innings in a loss Wednesday against Cleveland.
Oaks just couldn't find the strike zone, and it cost him as two of the three runs to score against him originally reached via a walk. Additionally, both hits Oaks gave up went for extra bases. Ian Kennedy (oblique) is likely to make his return just in time for his next turn through the rotation Tuesday against the Twins, so Oaks' stay in the rotation -- and the majors -- could be brief.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Likely returns to start Wednesday
Oaks is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Omaha to start Wednesday's game against the Indians, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
Ian Kennedy landed on the disabled list Tuesday with an oblique strain, creating an opening in the Royals' rotation for Wednesday. It remains unclear just how long Kennedy is expected to be sidelined, but he will be eligible to return July 10. Oaks has made three appearances for the Royals this season, allowing five runs on 12 hits over five innings during his lone start back in late April.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Knocked around in spot start
Oaks (0-1) allowed five runs on 12 hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings in a loss to the White Sox in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Only two of the 12 hits went for extra bases, but that's not much of a silver lining for Oaks in his big-league debut. It was a fairly predictable result, as Oaks was giving up a ton of contact at Triple-A to begin the year, striking out just 11 batters in 23.1 innings with Omaha. As the designated 26th man for the twin bill, he will be headed back down shortly.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Called up ahead of Saturday's start
Oaks was recalled to start Game 1 of the doubleheader against the White Sox on Saturday.
He is the 26th man for the twin bill and will presumably be sent back to Triple-A Omaha after the doubleheader, as the Royals will be able to move back to a five-man rotation. The former Dodgers farmhand has a 3.09 ERA through 23.1 innings (four starts) with Omaha, but he has a mediocre 11:6 K:BB over that span, good for an atrocious 11.8 percent strikeout rate. There is some blow-up potential in this outing, and his inability to miss bats at even an average clip limits his upside.

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Will start Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader
Oaks will join the Royals as their 26th man and start Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader with the White Sox, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic Kansas City reports.
Oaks has a 3.09 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 23.1 innings (four starts) with Triple-A Omaha this season, and will fill in as the Royals need a sixth starter Saturday. It seems likely to be a short stay as the 24-year-old will makes major-league debut, but a quality performance could earn him a second look with Kansas City's pitching staff featuring a 5.21 ERA, second-worst in the AL.
