Yajure allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two across three innings to earn the save Wednesday against the Reds.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Back in big leagues
The Pirates recalled Yajure from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Yajure will be back with the Pirates for the first time in two months after he supplied a 6.64 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 42 innings in his 10 appearances since he returned to Indianapolis. While his overall numbers since the beginning of July aren't impressive, Yajure found more success in his final two outings at Triple-A, covering five innings both times out while striking out 14 and allowing only three earned runs. The Pirates will likely keep him on hand as a relief option for now, but he could be a candidate to move into the rotation at some point over the final five weeks of the season.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Sent down after spot start
Yajure was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
He walked a tight rope in his spot start Monday against the Nationals, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing four hits and three walks and recording zero strikeouts. Yajure obviously has some work still to do in the minors, particularly figuring out how to miss more bats (4:9 K:BB in 14.1 MLB innings), if he is going to make it as a big-league starter.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Tosses four scoreless innings
Yajure allowed four hits and three walks over four shutout frames in Monday's loss to Washington. He did not record a strikeout or factor in the decision.
It wasn't the cleanest outing but Yajure was able to navigate around a couple of threats from the Nationals, including a bases-loaded jam in the third inning. It was his first MLB start of the year and he lowered his season ERA to 8.16 through 14.1 frames. The 24-year-old threw a season-high 65 pitches, including 41 strikes. Yajure could stick around in the rotation for another start this weekend at home against the Brewers.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Recalled, starting Monday
The Pirates recalled Yajure from Triple-A Indianapolis, and he'll start in Monday's game against the Nationals in Washington, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Yajure enters the rotation as a replacement for Jerad Eickhoff, who was designated for assignment and later outrighted to Triple-A after he was roughed up for 10 runs over 4.1 innings in his Pirates debut last week. The 24-year-old previously made six appearances as a reliever for Pittsburgh earlier this season, serving up 13 earned runs on 16 hits and six walks over 10.1 innings. In his five outings with Indianapolis since being demoted May 2, Yajure hasn't covered more than 3.2 innings, so the Pirates likely won't be counting on him to work deep into Monday's start.

Yajure (hip/back) was placed on the 7-day injured list with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Dealing with hip/back issues
Yajure dealt with some hip and lower-back discomfort in his last start at Triple-A Indianapolis, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
He got only two outs in his most recent appearance after striking out five over two scoreless innings May 8. The team doesn't think it's too serious, but they want to get it under control before he pitches again.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Moves down to minors
The Pirates optioned Yajure to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.
Yajure and Sam Howard will exit the big-league bullpen and head to the minors after the Pirates needed to reduce their active roster from 28 to 26 players ahead of Monday's deadline. The 24-year-old Yajure is still expected to be developed as a starting pitcher in the long run, so he could claim a spot in the Indianapolis rotation once he reports to the affiliate. Yajure struggled to find a foothold in the Pittsburgh bullpen over the first month of the season, posting an 11.32 ERA and 2.13 WHIP across 10.1 innings over six appearances.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Picks up first career win
Yajure (1-0) did not allow a hit, stuck out one and walked one across two scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday against the Cardinals.
Yajure did not earn a rotation spot out of spring training, though he effectively relieved Bryse Wilson on Sunday. He entered the game with Pittsburgh up 7-3 and managed to earn the first win of his career. Yajure has typically shown strong control of his pitches while climbing through the majors, so it is notable that he threw only 19 strikes on 34 pitches in his opening outing of the campaign.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Covers two innings in spring debut
Yajure (back) gave up a run on three hits over two innings Saturday in his Grapefruit League debut against the Red Sox.
According to Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com, team trainer Todd Tomczyk said Monday that Yajure checked out fine following Saturday's outing, his first of the spring while he was delayed in his recovery from a lumbar spine injury that dates back to last fall. Though Yajure is seemingly back to full health as the start of the season approaches, he doesn't appear to have enough innings under his belt to seriously contend for a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day rotation. The Pirates are still aiming to develop Yajure as a starter, so he could be sent to Triple-A Indianapolis to make regular turns out of the rotation.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Behind due to back issue
Yajure is behind schedule due to the back issue he started dealing with last fall, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Yajure missed the Arizona Fall League due to back discomfort, and the issue evidently persisted over the winter. He showed up to camp behind in his throwing program, though he's been able to make progress. He threw live batting practice Tuesday and expects to advance to game action soon.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Sent down Friday
Yajure was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
The right-hander was charged with the loss Thursday when he allowed seven runs in two innings against the Cubs, and he didn't line up to make another start during the regular season. His demotion will make room on the active roster for right-handed reliever Shea Spitzbarth, but Yajure will likely compete for a rotation spot during spring training in 2022.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Surrenders seven earned runs
Yajure (0-2) allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one across two innings to take the loss Thursday against the Cubs.
Yajure allowed a home run to the first batter of the game, but the real trouble came in the second inning when when he surrendered five hits and two walks. He pitched the majority of the season with Triple-A Indianapolis, though he has gotten two turns through the major-league rotation to close the season, though he allowed 10 earned runs across just 5.2 frames. Despite a difficult start to his big-league career, Yajure could be a rotation mainstay for the club in 2022.

Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Starting Thursday
Yajure will start Thursday's game against the Cubs, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Yajure last pitched Friday against the Phillies and gave up three runs across 3.2 innings, and he's poised to make his final start of 2021 on Thursday. Pirates' Miguel Yajure: Hurt by long ball Friday
Yajure allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings Friday in a no-decision versus Philadelphia.
Home runs by opposing pitcher Kyle Gibson as well as Brad Miller accounted for two of the three runs against him. Yajure served as a bulk reliever behind opener Sam Howard in Friday's contest, and it's possible that pairing could be utilized again next week against the Cubs. Should it happen, it's a favorable matchup for Yajure as he auditions for a larger role in 2022. He has a 4.85 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB in 13 innings across three appearances (two starts) this season.
