Bailey missed the minimum 10 days with a strained oblique and will return without having gone on a rehab assignment. The switch-hitting catcher had been slashing just .057/.089/.075 in August prior to the injury. Andrew Knapp was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that Bailey (oblique) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday when first eligible, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined since Aug. 18 due to an oblique strain, but he'll rejoin the active roster Thursday after being sidelined for the 10-day minimum. After the team initially labeled Bailey's side injury as minor tightness, an MRI revealed Tuesday that the 25-year-old catcher suffered a strained oblique.
