  • Orioles' Cam Sanders: Demoted to Norfolk

Baltimore optioned Sanders to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. After being acquired from the Pirates on Monday, Sanders was initially optioned to Norfolk before joining the Orioles ahead of their weekend series in Houston. He was used in relief in both of the first two games of the series, striking out two over 1.2 perfect innings while notching his first MLB win Friday and his first MLB save Saturday. The Orioles opted to replace Sanders on the 26-man active roster with catcher Sam Huff, who was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Cam Sanders: Picks up first win

Sanders (1-0) earned the win after pitching a scoreless two-thirds of an inning while striking out one batter against the Astros on Friday. Sanders was called on in a high-leverage situation in his Orioles debut. He entered the game in the seventh, facing a bases-loaded jam. After striking out Isaac Paredes and getting Christian Walker to pop out, the 29-year-old was in line for the win when Taylor Ward hit the go-ahead homer in the eighth.

  • Orioles' Cam Sanders: Acquired by Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Sanders from the Pirates on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Baltimore transferred Keegan Akin (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Sanders, who was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. The 29-year-old right-hander had made nine appearances out of the Pittsburgh bullpen this season, posting an 8.68 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and 13:10 K:BB in 9.1 innings.

  • Pirates' Cam Sanders: Pushed off 40-man

The Pirates designated Sanders for assignment Saturday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. A day after losing his place on the active roster, Sanders will now also be removed from the 40-man to help create space for new acquisitions Brandon Eisert and Jacob Gonzalez. Sanders has struggled in the big leagues up to this point but owns a 2.96 ERA through 24.1 innings in the minors, which could draw interest on the waiver wire from bullpen-needy teams.

  • Pirates' Cam Sanders: Demoted to Indianapolis

The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Sanders was touched up for three runs on two hits and three walks while recording just two outs in Thursday's loss to Atlanta. He threw 39 pitches in the appearance, so the Pirates are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Pirates' Cam Sanders: Recalled from Indy

The Pirates recalled Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. Sanders has given up just two earned runs while striking out 19 batters in 10 innings since being sent down to Triple-A at the end of May. He'll now return to the majors to give the Pirates' bullpen a fresh arm, though he'll likely be limited to low-leverage situations given that he's surrendered six runs in six innings with Pittsburgh. Brandan Bidois was optioned to Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

Sanders joined the Pirates' taxi squad ahead of Wednesday's contest, and he'll now grab a spot on the active roster to make up for the loss of Chris Devenski (illness). The 28-year-old reliever didn't allow a run in four of his five outings, but he yielded five runs in one-third of an inning against the Reds in his other appearance. Evan Sisk and Colin Holderman will join the big-league bullpen as part of Friday's slew of roster moves.
