  • Tigers' Brendan White: Back with Detroit on MiLB deal

The Tigers re-signed White to a minor-league contract on Dec. 13. White was non-tendered by Detroit last month but is back in the organization on a minors pact. The 26-year-old missed much of the 2024 season with elbow problems and underwent hydrodissection in August for nerve issues. White will be healthy for spring training and will likely begin the 2025 season in the Triple-A Toledo bullpen.

  • Tigers' Brendan White: Removed from 40-man roster

The Tigers designated White for assignment Tuesday. White missed most of the 2024 season due to injury, and he most recently underwent an elbow procedure in August. White started throwing sessions at the end of September, but his spot on the 40-man roster was needed for several players that were added Tuesday in order to protect them from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft.

  • Tigers' Brendan White: Undergoes procedure

The Tigers announced that White (elbow) underwent a hydro-dissection procedure Tuesday to address radial nerve-related symptoms, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. White had been contending with elbow problems dating back to spring training and hasn't pitched in a game since June 18, when he made a rehab appearance in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Though the Tigers recalled him from the minors Aug. 13 and placed him on the 60-day injured list with what the club labeled as a right elbow strain, White didn't require surgery and instead had a non-invasive procedure to address the matter. White is presumably shut down for the season, but he could be fully cleared for the start of spring training.

  • Tigers' Brendan White: Recalled, placed on 60-day IL

The Tigers recalled White from Double-A Erie on Tuesday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a right elbow strain. The transaction clears a spot on Detroit's 40-man roster for Kerry Carpenter, who came off the 60-day injured list Tuesday. White has been limited to just 7.1 innings this season because of elbow issues and hasn't pitched in nearly two months. He is being tested for a potential radial nerve injury, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.

  • Tigers' Brendan White: Still shut down with injury

White experienced elbow discomfort during a bullpen session in July and hasn't been cleared to resume a rehab assignment, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. White has been dealing with elbow issues dating back to spring training, but after being optioned to Toledo on March 8, he made enough progress in his recovery to avoid a stint on the club's 7-day injured list to begin the season. However, White was eventually moved to the development list in mid-April after issuing six walks in 1.2 innings over his first three appearances, and he hasn't made an appearance at the Triple-A level since. White retains a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster and currently resides on Double-A Erie's 7-day injured list.

  • Tigers' Brendan White: Cleared for baseball activities

White (elbow) has been cleared for all baseball activities and may return to game action this weekend, MLB.com reports. White has been dealing with right elbow soreness for a few weeks, but it seems like a return to Grapefruit League play is imminent. The righty made his MLB debut last season, logging a 5.09 ERA across 40.2 innings, and he should have a shot at a middle-relief role to start this year assuming he's healthy.

White will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. White is serving as an opener for the second time this season after he previously made his first MLB start July 1 in Colorado.

The Tigers recalled White from Triple-A Toledo on Monday. Though he was optioned to Toledo on Sunday, White is eligible to rejoin the Tigers just one day later since fellow reliever Mason Englert (hip) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. In 16 outings with the Tigers this season, spanning 20 innings, White has accrued a 4.95 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB. He'll likely serve as a middle-relief option while he's up with Detroit.

The 24-year-old righty holds a 5.23 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the season through 10.1 innings, and he will likely only remain on the mound for an inning or two Saturday.
