Prielipp struck out five and allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks across four innings of relief in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers.
Prielipp made a second straight appearance as a bulk reliever, this time piggybacking Joe Ryan (glute), who was lifted after four innings and 66 pitches in his first start with Minnesota in more than a month following his return from the injured list. Ryan should be ready to handle a more standard workload in his next start, so unless the Twins elect to expand the rotation to six men, Prielipp could end up taking on a more flexible bullpen role over the final two weeks of the season. The Twins are looking to limit Prielipp's workload down the stretch; he's already racked up 126.2 frames between the majors and Triple-A St. Paul in 2026, a 44-inning increase from his 2025 total.

Prielipp could be a candidate to pitch bulk innings in relief behind starter Joe Ryan (glute) during Monday's game in Detroit, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
As he makes his return from the 15-day injured list Monday for his first appearance for the Twins since Aug. 4, Ryan isn't expected to be ready to handle a traditional starting role after tossing just three innings and 42 pitches in his lone minor-league rehab start prior to being activated. The Twins had already been planning on managing Prielipp's workload as the season winds down, so skipping the rookie's turn in the rotation and having him cover a few innings behind Ryan would seem to be a sensible approach. Ryan should be mostly stretched out the next time his turn in the rotation comes up, so Prielipp could be headed for a more flexible bullpen role following Monday's contest.

Prielipp (4-7) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five over five scoreless innings of relief.
Prielipp entered after opener Andrew Morris allowed a run in the first inning. Prielipp kept Detroit off the board for the next five frames, throwing 47 of 73 pitches for strikes. It marked the first scoreless outing of Prielipp's young career and his 11th consecutive appearance of at least five innings, though the left-hander has posted an unimpressive 5.37 ERA during that stretch. Twins' Connor Prielipp: Likely to work in bulk relief Tuesday
Prielipp is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Andrew Morris during Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
Though manager Derek Shelton hasn't officially confirmed that Prielipp will work as a bulk reliever, Tuesday would have been the rookie left-hander's turn in the rotation. Morris hasn't covered more than 3.2 innings in any appearance this season and has pitched no more than two frames since May 3, so he shouldn't be expected to go more than once through the batting order before exiting the contest. Using an opener in front of Prielipp should help the Twins better manage his workload; between Triple-A and the majors, the 25-year-old has covered 117.2 innings this season, a 35-inning increase from his 2025 total.

Heading into a start at homer-friendly Sacramento didn't look to be a good recipe for Prielipp, who had allowed nine home runs over his last nine outings. The rookie left-hander tossed 58 of 88 pitches for strikes in a shaky performance and found himself in a 3-0 hole after two innings, but Prielipp avoided his sixth loss of the season when his offense rallied to tie it up once he's hit the showers. Despite missing time in June due to a blister problem, Prielipp has given up three earned runs or fewer in five straight outings dating back to June 19, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB over 28 innings during that stretch.
